Rating: Summary: 1,141 pages of sheer boredom. Review: Well it's true what they say...the book's always better than the movie. This should only indicate how bad the movie was since this 1,141 page bore-a-thon has absolutely no redeeming characteristics except that it does eventually end. Unless you're in jail and have virtually nothing else to do, don't read this book.
Rating: Summary: without a doubt the best book i have ever read Review: I think that what makes this novel so interesting is the fact that you just cant get enough Everytime that i read it (about 4) i get goosebumps throughout the story Another part that i find enjoyable is the fact that i find myself relating to the main characters (dont we all?) But i dont relate to one character more than any other I think that we all have a part of Flagg in us somewhere He merely represents the evilness that all of us manifest at some point in our lives I would like to think of myself as more of a Glen/Stu mix but i find myself thinking that i am more of a Larry/Harold mix Sometimes i am almost sure of it And in some strangely sick way I find myself daydreaming about how life would be different if this sort of thing did happen :)
Rating: Summary: What? You havn't read this book yet? Come on, now . . . Review: The stand is the first King book I had ever picked up and by now means, the last. I've yet to read it a second time on the grounds that it's still fresh in my memory, even having read it over eight years ago. If you've seen the movie first, and are apprehensive in reading the book, I say, blah to the movie. It can't compare. Can any movie really compare to the actual literary masterpiece that gave it birth? Not likely. Try it. Once cpt. trips gets out, it'll get you too.
Rating: Summary: Best King book Review: I read many King books when I was younger. Now that I am older and have expanded the breadth of my reading, I realize how shallow and trite most of his books were. "The Stand: Complete and Uncut" is one of the few of his books that have withstood the test of time. King does best when he is restricted to shortened forms or when he is allowed to write epics such as this. His apocalyptic vision of the final showdown between good vs. evil is brilliantly rendered. This is not only King's magnum opus, it is a good book.
Rating: Summary: the best Review: I am a Stephen King fan and this is the best book i have ever read nothing else can even come close to it. I couldn't put it down and read it only a few days.
Rating: Summary: IT LIVED UP TO MY EXPECTATIONS!!! Review: Yet another of King's great stories. Again the characters were relatable, the story was devestating, and the describtions were awesome. If you read one Stephen King book, read this one. It's flawless
Rating: Summary: My Favorite Book Review: My Dad gave me "The Stand" for Christmas when I was in 9th grade (in 1992). It took me all two weeks of C-mas break to read it, but it was worth it! This is Steven King's best work ever. I loved learning about every single character in the book--they hopes and dreams and their motivations to taking the different paths that they did. The way King wove together the lives of so many characters is truly amazing and I have never seen its equal. Read this book, you will be so glad you did! Incedentally, I am now a junior in college but every December during C-mas break, I pick up the book and read it again. As I grow older, I continue to see something new in the story every time! It is that good!
Rating: Summary: PERFECTION Review: this is the best book ever written. it is destined to be an americain literary classic. it is stephen king's best, and it inspired me to buy all his other stuff. EXCELLENT!!!!!
Rating: Summary: The Concept Makes The Book! Review: The two best works in Stephen King's career are "The Stand" and "It." The secret to "It" was a simple concept and absolutely fantastic writing. But in the "Stand," we see a bit of the opposite. You have King's usual above average characterization, description, and cadence. What comes through in "The Stand" is the fantastic concept of global devestation, told only as he can. Not only is the main plot masterful, but the subplots, and the ways that King takes advantage of the initial premise are nothing short on genius. Ordinary compliments fail do Stephen King justice. The same goes for his creations, especially "The Stand"!!
Rating: Summary: The Best Book in the World Review: Okay, this book proves that a book can be long but still enjoyable. I loved the book, and when I finished I felt kinda sad that I had finished it. Infact I am going to reread it sometime soon. The Stand was the first book that has actually scared me alittle, in fact I even had a dream that I was Nadine Cross from the book. I have read several other Stephen King novels, (Pet Cematary, Christine, Rose Madder, etc...) but this one has been the best. You Can even tell my e-mail address has been impacted by the book!
