Rating: Summary: **WARNING** Review: If you are a typical creature of the nineties, whose main artistic education comes from a 19" box, and therefore enjoys characters whose lives, problems, resolutions, and emotions can be summed up in half an hour or less, DO NOT get this book. You'll be greatly dissapointed. However, if you are looking for a classic in which the characters are carefully shaped, dissected, developed and believably presented and in which the plot is intricate and captivating, you'll be back to this site to give this book a 5 star review yourself. King not only has the guts to tackle a mammoth vision (the end of the world) but he has the skills to present it in descriptive, flowing format. Otherwise, if you want an end of the world plot microwaved and served, go rent "Armageddon". It's only about 2 hours.
Rating: Summary: The Stand: Complete and Uncut by Stephen King Review: I only need to say one thingL: READ THIS BOOK; it's like a drug. It's just so REAL! But unfortunately i have to say, that the film is'nt nearly so good as the book.
Rating: Summary: More than just another horror story Review: This book has been my favorite for many years now. I read it at least once a year, and it is like revisiting old friends. The plot, subplots, characters, and insights are among the best King has ever written. It is a gripping tale that stands the test of time. You will NOT be disappointed in this book.
Rating: Summary: AWESOME! Review: Wonderful buildup, excellent imagery and an apocolyptic climax. Beautifuly written with extrodinary care given to details. Couldn't put it down for the two weeks it took me to read it. This was my first King book and I was shocked by some of the images he put in my head. I actually got depressed when one of the characters died!
Rating: Summary: 1141 PAGES FULL OF THE BEST STORY EVER Review: I read this for the first time three years ago when I was 13. It was the third book I ever really read-and I loved it. Since then I have read this one 2 more times, as well as many other greats like "IT" (read it twice), "Desperation", and "Bag of Bones". Many King fans hate it, but true ones love it, read "The Stand" you will love it!
Rating: Summary: the greatest book!! Review: This was the first book that i have really read and was into it. this book also inspired me to start reading more of stephen king's books.
Rating: Summary: this is a cheesey book Review: "oh my god! look out behind you!" is what you would be reading if you bought a book other than this one. the stand is not a book for people that like suspence and horror and all that other good stuff that makes a STEPHEN KING book.personally, i think that some cheesey author wrote it and payed KING to sign his name to it just to get people to read it. this book just didn't have all the properties of a classic STEPHEN KING HORROR STORY. frankly it scares me to look at his name on the book. it's just a cheesey story and that's all you really need to know. i wouldn't waste my time or money on it.
Rating: Summary: Better over time Review: I first read "The Stand" when I was in High School. At the time it seemed very interesting as a commentary on what if? Now years later, I've read it again (14 yrs?). It now seems as if it could have been, but was avoided (thus far). Stephen King is truly a timeless author in our time.
Rating: Summary: Do they get any better than this??? Review: I have now read EVERY Stephen King novel there is (save for The Talisman), and I have been reading King for years. For some reason I have always been reluctant to read this book, and I am now sorry that I didn't read it sooner. This book delivers all you could ever imagine or want in a novel and it's worth the time it takes to read a 1,300 + page novel. I am now on to tackle The Talisman which is another one that I previously had no interest in reading, but if it's any where near as good as The Stand, I will be really surprised (the quality of The Stand will be quite difficult to top though). Now if only King could stop producing garbage like the 'Tom Gordon' book, I would be completely content. Don't get me wrong, "The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon" isn't that bad, but it isn't what you'd come to expect from a master like Stephen King.
Rating: Summary: the longest book I ever read, and it took the least time Review: Stephen King is the master in character development. you will fall in love with the characters. this is a classic book of good against evil that makes you question all that you believe in. This is his greatest work.
