Summary: a great book
Review: one of stephen kings greatest. i enjoy reading his books, and i've got to say this is one of his greatest works.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Best Book Written by any author
Review: To say that this book is the best book I have ever read would be an understatement. I have personally read the uncut version of The Stand 7 times. It may sound like alot, but its the kind of book you can go back to again and again and find something new. To me, it does not remind me of Revelations or any type of "end of the world" literature I have ever read. Its additions from the cut make the story richer and a hulluva lot better than the cut edition.
I have recommended this book to so many people, and while a few of them have said bad things about the book, most of them agree. I often find myself thinking of Stu, Fran, and Tom like they were real people, and wondering what happened to them. Likewise, I cry every time Larry Underwood dies and Lucy's baby being born without ever knowing what his father was like and knowing the sacrafices made.
I personally think that the reason this book is so good for me is that I feel that it could actually happen. At least the flue epidimic could. Who knows what our government is up to?
The only hardship I have about this book is the very end-when Steven King leaves "Flagg" alive.
This is truly one of the best pieces of "fiction" I have read

Summary: All about Story
Review: Stephen King is one of the best writers currently writing - I've pretty much convinced myself of that. He has complete command of language and form, and writes so well that you don't notice the writing. Which is good, because he is WITHOUT A DOUBT the best storyteller out there. He writes so that the story becomes all. The Stand is a story of apocalypse and aftermath, but oh, what King can do with that setup. There are ties to other books in the Stephen King universe throughout, but this one can stand on its own. It is scary, funny, thought-provoking, entertaining, and epic, but most of all it is GOOD. Take a chance on the Shining (which is shorter)-- if you find you like Stephen King, read The Stand.

Summary: One of THE best horror books ever.
Review: The stand has you from the first page, and successfully pulls you into a post-apocalyptic world with complete believe-ability. It is truly one of the greatest horror books ever and the best dealing with an apocalypse.

Summary: An epic novel
Review: The stand is the largest book i have ever read yet it was one of the greatest. It is the basic struggle between good vs evil. You will not be able to but this book down, you will want to know what happens to all the characters. It is a must buy

Summary: Great but Trilogy is Even Better
Review: Thanks to Sunny Decker for recommending The Christ Clone Trilogy by James BeauSeigneur. I actually found it better that The Stand. Yeah, I know that's almost blasphemous and I'll probably be burned at the stake (or at least gnawed on by a rabid dog), but take a look and see if you don't agree.

Summary: Absolute Best by King
Review: I have read this book countless times over the years. In fact, it's become a summer tradition with me. Each time, it seems to get better. I love the whole concept, God versus the devil, good versus evil, man against man. The story line is entirely plausible, the characters are great, the dialogue wonderfully written. This is the best.

Summary: Could have been 5 Stars
Review: The Uncut version of The Stand was so King could put back in a chunk of writing about Trashcan Man. All 80 pages of it. There was a reason it was cut in the first place. What was he thinking about re-adding that in? ugh!

But leaving that part out, it is a wonderfull story with great characters that keeps you flipping a few pages ahead to see who the next chapter is about. I was however dissapointed in the end. The long journey the main characters take was basically pointless as we are cheated out of a true climax to this battle between good and evil.

Still, I would recomend anyone to read this story, there's a little something in there for everybody.

Summary: King's Best
Review: Hands down, this is easily King's best and coincidentally probably his most popular. Not only is it my favorite King novel, it is one of my favorite novels of all time - definitely in my top five.

Essentially, it's the story of the decimation of human life on earth due to a mass epidemic. A handful of people are unaffected and they are drawn together to try and figure out why.

King wrote this in 1979 and although he has come close on several occasions, in my opinion, had never been able to eclipse it.

If you get a chance and you have yet to read it, make sure you find time to do so.

BTW, the TV adapted mini-series was awful.

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: Pretty good
Review: I liked this book, in the sense that King developed his characters well. They each hilited the differences in each other, and they way everything planned out was really good. The reason why I'm giving it three stars was because the entire book was because that's all the book was - everybody getting there, meeting each other, etc. I wished there had been more to the actual part with Flagg. It was just a few pages out of 800 (I read the short version) that actually involved their 'Stand'. However, that's not a strike against King - it's a personal opinion. He told his story well, I just wish he'd done it a bit differently. A definate must-read nonetheless ^^.
