Summary: christopher moore-always 5 stars
Review: For 5 years I have been trying to get people to read
Christopher Moore. I always sneak his name in with just
about every review I write. Want a laugh...read Moore.
Want to shed a tear...read Moore. Want some terrific fiction that will float your boat...read Moore. Just type in his name
and read the reviews of his books...the 5 stars will blow you
away. "Lamb" is no exception. Imagine Jesus (Joshua) with a
best friend named Biff. We are taken on a journey of Jesus'
life, the life we never were aware of, with Biff (who coveted Mary, his mother.) They travel to the realms of the Magi,
searching for answers. If you have no humor regarding religion,
you will not want to read this book. However, if you are an
open-minded person, read and LAUGH! Then go and buy Moore's
other books. There is always an element of mysticism in them...
also laugh out loud humor. I honestly cannot think of an author
who has brought me as much joy as Christopher Moore...and I read a lot. P.S. He does answer e-mail.

Summary: Buy this book!!!!!!
Review: I have never laughed so hard through a entire book like I have with Lamb. My best friend highly recommended this book to me and I must do it in turn. Chapter One opens up with a six year old Joshua (Jesus) and his best friend, Biff, playing resurrect the lizard. That is when the laughs start and continue to the very end of the book. This book is a ton of fun. There are some historical inaccuracies that Christopher Moores admitts to, because the books is meant to be fun, not a history lesson.

I guarantee by the second chapter of Lamb you will be recommending it to anyone that will listen to you. You will never look at Spiderman the same, and the last thing I will leave you with in this review besides from BUY THIS BOOK, is Kung Fu Jesus.

Summary: How Have I Missed Christopher Moore?
Review: I'm an avid and eclectic reader and have been for years...why has it taken me so long to discover this author? Well I'm a devoted fan now!

This book is laugh out loud funny. I found myself constantly sharing excerpts with my friends (more often, no doubt, than they would have liked. ) Moore is an extremely talented writer and his take on these events is more fun than one might imagine it could be. It is difficult to describe how he approaches the lost years of Jesus and his ventures into esoteric studies but somehow Moore manages to follow the tenets of the various disciplines while at the same time playing Devil's Advocate with tongue firmly in cheek.

The characters are delightful: Biff, Joshua (Jesus), Maggie (Mary Magdalene) , Raziel the rather confused archangel who brings Biff back from the dead to write his gospel - they are all clear and quirky and endlessly entertaining. And the disciples are here too, each with distinct personalities.

Perhaps if I had Moore's writing skills I could tell you how much fun this book is but I guess the best I can do is say: "Trust me!" (and prepare to laugh til you cry!) Meanwhile, I await the copies of his other books that I've ordered.

And by the way, if you've wondered about the TRUE origin of "Blond Jokes" the answer is here, on pages 72-3.

Summary: By God--you can't help but laugh!
Review: This is one of those books, no matter how firmly you cling to your opinions on the subject, touches you! You will--no doubt at all-- laugh out loud--at the wit, sarcasm, and humor of Mr. Moore's writings--his voice is so clear and sharp that I dare anyone out there not to just forget how "serious" the topic of religion can be, and not love this book!I have given this book to many friends, family and even one absoloutely befuddled Jehohovah's witness (that has since stopped dropping by for our weekly visits-maybe she is just a slow reader?)to digest, all with the exception of the last person bestowed--found it to be a wonderful, funny, endearing book--but be forwarned--the ending is not a happy one! You will not be disppointed with this book, and if you just happen to know any of those FAR right--way too serious on the subject--my way or your going to burn in hell types--the FUN you can have with this is well worth the purchase alone! have fun, spread the gospel of Biff! Quote the book of Excretions and Dalmations, and have fun with a great book!

Summary: I wish it were longer
Review: This was a very good and funny book. Nothing too offensive for the average evangelical but then again I doubt any evangelical will read it. My only complaint was that it was too short. I wish the author went into more detail on Joshua's life before his mission.

Summary: Christopher Moore's best, and that's saying a lot
Review: I have been a fan of Christopher Moore since "Practical Demonkeeping", and I knew I would enjoy this book. What surprised me was how much I loved it. This is truly the best book I've read in the last year, if not longer, and it has stayed with me in a way that few humorous novels do. I've already loaned it to one friend and after that it's been claimed by another. If you are hesitating to buy it as a hardcover, I assure you that it is worth the price.

I am not a very religious person, though I was raised Catholic, and I know that there were some references that I missed. Moore, while writing a humorous book (that answers the burning question, "What if Christ knew kung-fu?"), has managed to show me a Jesus that I would like to know. Yes, it's a little sacreligious, but it's also a wonderful display of affection for Jesus and the original intention of his church. I can't remember the last time a novel made me consider my faith so deeply.

Buy this book and see for yourself.

Summary: Please buy this book!
Review: I wandered over to the New Fiction section of my local bookstore, not expecting much. Lamb caught my attention. At first, I thought it was another of the religious fiction ilk. What I found was a laugh-out-loud, stay-up-late-to-finish, and curse-yourself-for-reading-so-darn-fast jewel of a book.

While I'm sure, it's bound to offend due to the sensitive subject matter, anyone who can't see past that is truly missing out.

I loved the characters, and even though I knew how it would turn out, I felt a genuine loss.

Do yourself a favor and buy this book.

Summary: Hysterical! Possibly Moore's Funniest Book yet
Review: Ever wonder what Jesus might have been like as an adolescent or young adult? This is his hysterical story. The basic premise is not unlike that of The Last Temptation of Christ...i.e. that while Jesus knew he was the son of God, he was also a man, and before that, a boy. So he had to cope with all the issues and frailties inherent in being mortal flesh. Similar premise, but totally different tone. Where Last Temptation goes serious, Lamb is silly.

The story is told from the point of view of Biff, JC's first disciple and best pal since they were children. Biff, while totally devoted to his supernatural friend, is also a bit of a rogue and he keeps an eye on his credulous friend and helps him negotiate the perils of a conniving and sometimes cruel world. We follow them on their adventures as JC tracks down the Wise Men who arrived at his birth, travels to China for Monastic Training, and generally prepares for his role as savior to mankind.

Very funny and a great read! Unusually for a humorous book, there's a lot of meat for discussion, so it could make a good choice for a book club if your group is getting tired of dramas.

Summary: I love this book
Review: Let start off by saying this was my first (and definitely not my last) Christopher Moore novel. While I was at work, (I work at a bookstore.)I was in the process of shelving when I came across the book. The inside flap got to me. Within minutes I was laughing out loud in the store. I just had to share it with my coworkers and customers. I laughed alot & I cried alot. Especially at the end. Granted the humor is frat boy material but you can't get over how much Biff really loves Josh. Christopher Moore did an incredible job bringing these characters to life. How many of you can say that you can forget Bart preaching to his followers(just so happens that they are the canine persuasion).

if you read this with laughter in mind then you will definitely enjoy it. If you read it with a closed mind then Christopher Moore be damned. I loved the realtionship between Biff, Josh, & Maggie. Then there were the apostles. The less sane they were the more Josh loved them. They no longer became names in the bible but flesh & blood.

And yes Josh aka Jesus does have his share of profanity. So what? He never claimed to be a saint. He's just a kid who became a man who had no idea what it meant to be a messiah. Laugh at their adventures and share the sorrow and anguish with Biff when he knows that his bestfriend will be crucified and that there is not darn thing he can do to stop it.

I hope you enjoy this novel as much as I did.
