Rating: Summary: VERY Good Review: I stumbled upon this book/comic when someone I know brough it to school with them. I have not read it cover to cover, but what I have read leads me to think that it will be my favorite book forever.I think you should read this hilarios book about someone who is crazier than even me.
Rating: Summary: Not for the faint of heart... Review: This book was awesome... i enjoyed it so much. I had them delivered when i first found out about them. Im not really into the whole gothic thing... but this comic book was really good. I would recomend it for anyone*.*Except the faint of heart
Rating: Summary: Disappointing Review: I was hoping that Jhonen Vasquez would appeal to my dark sense of humor, but much of the humor came across as forced. I only give it two stars instead of one because I agree with Vasquez's beliefs concerning humanity's violent tendencies. However, there are plenty of other works (ex: The Lord of the Flies) that convey this very same message with skill and originality.
Rating: Summary: I Love Johnny!!! Review: Like it says in the forward, Johnny is the little monster in each of us that we deny, our animal nature, our true ID *l* More than that though, he is the saddest most neglected part within us all. He is both the person we love most and the person we cross the street to avoid. This graphic novel reminded me very much of another called 'Moonshadow' only with a lot less hope and joy *l* This boy is much sadder, We know Moonshadow had a mother who loved him, but we're pretty sure either Johnny's mother was a crackhead or was never around at all. I've got to admit, I fell in love with Johnny, and yeah, I know he's a comic book character, and that in real life he would have probably cut me to little bits, but like a lot of people I am attracted to pain in a person. So he kills a lot of people... but not without some keen introspction beforehand, and after :o), there is also another monster in the story, and well, I'm beginning to babble. Just buy a copy. You won't be sorry.
Rating: Summary: A Delirious Romp through the Visions of the Homocidal? Review: Well, I bought this book due to the good reviews thanks to my fellow Nny fans... This book is brings the best out of Jhnonen (Creator of the cancelled Nickolodean show "Invader Zim"), with his extremely agile/flowing animations, about Johnny the Homocidal Maniac. The whole book revolves around Johnny, who prefer's Nny, and he is a manically depressed maniac, with friends such as Nail-Bunny, D-Boy, and Squee (The Traumatized Next Door Neighbor). The book is horribly grotesque, but its so funny, you get around the blood and guts and laugh your head off. Its a comic like no other, with humor everywhere, with absolutley morbid pictures, of death, brutaility, and tortue. Yet somehow, it brings laughter to anybody who I have shown it. That is saying one of two things: 1. The book is truly awesome, or 2. My friends are all Psychoes, and the book is truly awesome.
Rating: Summary: go forth and become a happy cabbage Review: basically this is some of the most uniquest and best artwork for a comic that ive ever seen and, yeah, johnny talks a lot but at least hes making some good points...usually and he kills all the time, but thats a big part of the book (der) so deal with it or go read somethin else....this book is more than worth it....it just depends on who the hell you ARE whoa buh-bye
Rating: Summary: disturbing in a way but the best!! Review: A friend of mine was real kind enough to let me borrow this book a couple of weeks ago. I never got into Johnny the Homicidal Manic so i didn't know what I was in for. When I read it I didn't know if I should be scared or laugh my head, I mostly laughed. From Jhonen Vasquez, the guy who gave us Invader Zim on Nick and which was the best cartoon on that network gives us the first seven series in one book, Plus the interview with Jhonen, The Early years of Johnny, and my favorite Happy Noodle Boy, But I must warn that if you never read a JTHM comic and if you get disturbed real easy dont read it. but if you enjoy the kind of humor that Johnny gives when he kills people and scares everyone's favorite kid Squee you are in for a good time.
Rating: Summary: Look Deeper Review: Johnny The Homicidal Maniac Director's Cut contains all seven Jonnhy issues in one book. It also includes sketches from Jhonen, the creator, an interview with Jhonen, and a 'timeline' of Johnny (from 'Johnny The Little Homicidal Maniac (crap) to Johnny The Homicidal Maniac (much better) This book series is...interesting to say the least. Many people say, "Oh, that book's junk, all it's about is some guy who goes around killing people." They don't know what they're talking about. You can see the Johnny series 'evolve' from 'Tramatize the Neighbor' to 'Good Luck, Squee!' This is actually an in-depth book. Sure, as it starts it looks like a book that poser goths read to try and look spooky. But, as you read on, the characters develop depth and become three dimensional. Johnny starts as a killer, who uses his victim's blood to paint a wall. Something's in there, but he doesn't know quite what. He has three voices, Nailbunny, Mr. Eff, and D-Boy. Nailbunny is Johnny's positive side, while Mr. Eff and D-Boy are negative. ME and DB are trying to get Johnny to kill himself, that way he can't paint the wall anymore, and the thing behind the wall can be released. Johnny has some real in-depth talks with his voices. A spin-off of this series is 'I Feel Sick' which is about Devi, Johnny's ex. Overall, I highly recommend this book to anyone with a mature enough mind to truly understand this book.
Rating: Summary: Only For the Strong Minds, But A Gorey, Enjoyable Read Review: I cannot begin to explain how humorous Jhonen Vasquez can be while penning in blood and gore. Johnny the Homicidal Maniac (aka: JtHM) is only for the readers who can stand looking past flesh and bone and inside of Jhonen's mind. Lots of blood, but some laughs. Johnny has an unknown past but his present is open to the reader. I reccommend that anyone, who is strong enough to read gore, who sees this in stores (Hot Topic most of all) to purchase it quickly! You WON'T regret it!
