Rating: Summary: Excellent. Review: I find this book to be an excellent tool as well as a good story. What Mr. Barnes has experienced with his past life memories is so typical of a spiritual awakening. And like Mr. Barnes, people feel crazy, experience depression, have nightmares, exhibit unexplained behaviors etc. I find this to be a usefull tool in helping others to have someone to identify with. Also, it is usefull in helping people to understand how hypnotic regression can help them to identify the hidden source of thier feelings. Besides that it is a fantastic story, entertaining as well as educational. I use both tapes and printed copies and recomend either or both.
Rating: Summary: I could not put it down! Review: I found Mr Barnes account of his life as Thomas Andrews to be powerfully moving to me. His explanation of the ship's collision with an iceberg is very believable. As a former Navy man who was stationed on 2 LSTs and 2 Aircraft carriers I know how badly a ship can shake when the engines are reversed. It sounds like the propellers are moving marbles when that happens. Also when the ship struck the berg, it added to the stress of the ship that was already stressed due to the cavatation of the propellers, Also the brittle steel was also a contributing factor too!
Rating: Summary: Thomas Andrews,my idol Review: I have many numerous bookds on titanic and her sisterships. I also have some books, not enough on Mr. Andrews. I must say that this book is THE BEST I have read and I myself think Mr. Barnes truly knew this man like no other. I want to let him know he did a very fine job and I commend him on it. I think more people interested in this subject should by this book because so few people really new Andrews the way he truly was. I will forever be indebted to Mr.Barnes for putting out such good reading and learnig material. A JOB WEL DONE,LADD. Yours truly Robin

Rating: Summary: Deeply moving Review: I have the audio version of this book and loved it so much I had to get the printed as well. I had also seen on the author's website that there was more added to it and wanted that as well. I have read and listened to the story so much I practically know it by heart. My family enjoys it as well and it is very reassuring to us as we have memories of Titanic as well. It is not easy living with these haunting dreams and flash backs and to hear Mr. Barnes share his experience gives us a great deal of reassurance about ourselves as well as bringing up unknown items that we remember! This is REAL! I hold great esteem for the author and am truly gratefull to have found his books.
Rating: Summary: A fresh perspective. Review: I just stopped the last tape and once again feel renewed, refreshed, and rejuvenated. These audiotapes have given me a fresh perspective on the disaster, the Titanic and the man who created her. Fantastic and captivating! The "stories inside stories" help the listener gain a sense of Andrews¹ personal and professional life -- a well-developed story -- must be bought -- will be listened to time and time again -- in a class of its own -- for the Titanic enthusiast, novice and those interested in retrieving buried memories. Excellent, intelligent, and honorable. Interest never subsided.
Rating: Summary: Not really that good Review: I purchased the book thinking it was an account of what happened to Thomas Andrews on the last moments of the great ship. Instead I found it a " reincarnation " story, and some aspects confuse me. For example there are some metal properties which were not discovered until 1947, yet Thomas Andrews amazingly knows them in 1912. The author has written a good book, and I was happy with his author ability, but if your looking for an account of Thomas Andrews, a real account, this isn't the book for you
Rating: Summary: A voyage into the mind of Thomas Andrews Review: I thoroughly enjoyed reading "Voyage into History" by William Barnes. Not only is it a good book that holds the interest. It paints a great mental picture of what it must have been like to have been on the great ship...it also raises the question of "reincarnation". For those of us that may be seriously considering this as a possibility, or even those amongst us who disbelieve in the whole concept of past life, and past life memories the corroborating evidence in the book is very compelling. Highly recommended.
Rating: Summary: You only THINK you know how the story ends! Review: I'm so glad you've 'come aboard' to take a look at I Built the Titanic: Past Life Memories of a Master Shipbuilder. This book has a two-fold dedication. First, I dedicate it to the memory of Thomas Andrews, Titanic's builder. He took great pains to build a safe ship, but was over-ruled at every step of the way by the White Star Line. I hope to clear his name of any possible blame for the Titanic disaster. Next, and more and of more importance, I dedicate my book to you readers who may be experiencing recollections or double memories of a past life. No. You're not crazy. I have seen first hand, that as modern psychology progresses, it is giving serious attention to present life emotional issues, that may have a past life connection. If you believe in reincarnation or not, it doesn't matter. By putting I Built the Titanic into your shopping cart, you are guaranteed to hear a gripping first-person account of one man's futile fight against politics, arrogance and greed. You will learn of a man's love for his wife and child, and of his devotion to a mistress made of cold, hard steel. As I said earlier, you only THINK you know how this story ends. There is much more to be told about Titanic before and after her maiden voyage, that only the man who built her can tell.
Rating: Summary: Give it a Chance Review: I've read some of the most recent reviews of Thomas Andrews: Voyage Into History. Although I'm grateful for all opinions and comments, it appears to me that some of my "reviewers" have not read the book either for content or context. In one example, a reviewer criticizes claims of Andrews' knowledge of the characteristics of the steel. The "reviewer" lacks historical perspective here. I suppose by ignoring that perspective, it's easy to pick out a particular detail and use that as a reason not to accept my claims. Steel hulled ships were built for 50 years BEFORE Titanic was born. Experience in how steel would react under certain circumstances was well known, even if metallurgical science was not applied. It's called the empirical method, by which an artisan understands and utilizes the medium he uses to build. To be called fake, fraud or insane comes with the territory in a book such as Voyage Into History." I ask all readers, sheptics or believers to check out the detailed study made of my case by research psychologist, Dr. Linda Nathanson. She has compiled an astounding number of "hits" based on my memories. Some are quite subtle and obscure. With the help of physicist, John Willcox, PhD, I have been able to scientifically verify that my memories of how Titanic was damaged... This information also appears in Voyage Into History. I am therefore able to demonstrate that Andrews knew ships and the medium with which they were built. Again, this is a reincarnation story. On that premise alone, it may not be your "cup of tea." Nonetheless I ask all who read it to have an opened mind both pro and con.
