Rating: Summary: Remarkable Ship; Remarkable Man! Review: "I Built The Titanic" by William Barnes is a wonderful audio-book. Interlaced into the text are clips from Mr. Barnes' past-life regression sessions where he 'becomes' Thomas Andrews. It's amazing and comforting at the same time to hear the builder of Titanic speak out after 87 years of silence. He loved his wife and daughter so much and planned to take a vacation after Titanic. No one could have known that Titanic's maiden voyage would also be his last. What I found particularily interesting was the 'death' of Thomas Andrews--something that no one would know the details of except the man himself. These scenes are truly heart-breaking. "I Built The Titanic" is a wonderfully moving, captivating book that I know I'll treasure forever.
Rating: Summary: Truly Amazing Review: "I Built The Titanic" is an emotional rollercoaster ride through Mr. Thomas Andrews' life. Spanning his childhood, through the fateful night of April 15, 1912, this wonderfully read, captivating audio-book is a must have for all Titanic historians and fans. Laced with humor (Helen Andrews was quite the spitfire!) and drama, "I Built The Titanic" by William Barnes alternately makes me laugh and cry when I think of it. Tommie Andrews' voice still echoes in my head: "My ship! My beautiful ship! She's goin' down and I can't save her." REMARKABLE!

Rating: Summary: Give it a Chance Review: ...Steel hulled ships were built for 50 yearsBEFORE Titanic was born. Experience in how steel would react undercertain circumstances was well known, even if metallurgical science was not applied. It's called the empirical method, by which an artisan understands and utilizes the medium he uses to build. To be called fake, fraud or insane comes with the territory in a book such as "Voyage Into History"; I ask all readers, sheptics or believers to check out the detailed study made of my case by research psychologist, Dr. Linda Nathanson. She has compiled an astounding number of "hits" based on my memories. Some are quite subtle and obscure. With the help of physicist, John Willcox, PhD, I have been able to scientifically verify that my memories of how Titanic was damaged... This information also appears in Voyage Into History. I am therefore able to demonstrate that Andrews knew ships and the medium with which they were built. Again, this is a reincarnation story. On that premise alone, it may not be your "cup of tea." Nonetheless I ask all who read it to have an opened mind both pro and con. END
Rating: Summary: This is so real, it is almost spooky ! Review: After listening to the tapes, I believe Mr Barnes about his life as Thomas Andrews. I do have an ear for sound and voices. The voice of Thomas Andrews is so unlike Mr Barnes, I dont see how it could be faked. Also his voice is a combination scottish and Irish, if you had read his book you would know that his mother had a scottish background, so maybe Tommie picked it up from her Also tommies voice on the tape has a certain type of sound almost like a channelled entity, It also brought tears to my eyes listening to the final moments of tommie's life.
Rating: Summary: Either you believe it, or you don't Review: Either way, Thomas Andrews comes across as a big-hearted but frustrated man with a restless hate for Bruce Ismay. This book reads easy but I got tired of the melodramatic tone given to it. If you want to know more about the Titanic's shipbuilder, this book is for you.
Rating: Summary: Compelling! A must hear! Review: Hearing Thomas Andrews speak through William Barnes riveted me to my seat! While listening to the tapes I felt as if I was right there reliving every moment, every high and low right along side of Thomas Andrews! These tapes are truly wonderous! Thanks to William Barnes, Thomas Andrews can at last tell the truth of the Titanic and of his valiant struggle to save both the ship and its passengers before it embarked upon its fateful voyage. Congratulations to William Barnes for his courage and compassion in allowing Thomas Andrews, Master Builder of the Titanic, to finally have his say as to the real reasons why the unsinkable Titanic sank.
Rating: Summary: A Sincere and Believable Account Review: I don't believe in reincarnation, but this wonderful book leaves me wondering, maybe... Mr. Barnes' account fills in many of the details that history seems to have left out. I realize now how hard Thomas Andrews worked to build Titanic and Olympic with proper safeguards and enough lifeboats. Knowing that the Mersey Commission blamed him pothumously for poor design, despite the fact that he was overruled on every safeguard issue by White Star, makes me empathize with a soul so troubled, that it must come back to tell the real truth. The emotion in Mr. Barnes/Thomas Andrews' voice in the regression clips is sincere and poignant. I don't think an actor could do that. This is why I believe Mr. Barnes. This is why I'm left wondering about reincarnation. But whether he was reincarnated or not, Mr. Barnes' courageous retelling of this story, should help the spirit of Thomas Andrews find rest.
Rating: Summary: I Believe it! But even if YOU don't , you'll love this book Review: I don't believe in reincarnation--at least I didn't until I listened to this book. Mr. Barnes makes a convincing case for past life experience. Putting the regression with the narration made it seem like I was hearing the Titanic story right from 1912. Even if you don't believe in reincarnation, you'll find this book to be a well-told tale with all the elements of good drama. I LOVED it. I couldn't stop listening. I was sorry when the story ended. That's how much I liked it.
