Summary: for those complaining about the audio quality...
Review: "The Mist" is easily my favorite of the King short stories. i've actually been reading it to a good friend of mine over the last few months and she is quite intrigued.

As for this presentation, the sound is spectacular and very frightening. As other reviewers have stated, the need for giving a detailed description of the nemeses in the story is a bit overdrawn, but I can deal with that. My complaints are with the musical score. I found it exceptionally distracting and would prefer to purchase a version of this with the musical score entirely removed.

All in all, it's a very unsettling listen, well worth it. Without the score I would have given it five stars.

Summary: THE MIST in 3-D Sound by Stephen King
Review: Admittedly, this audio book was a disappointment. The Mist by Stephen King is a wonderful, fast paced & SCAREY short story (in written form) but "something" fell short in it's creation on audio. Mind you, most of the 'actors' did a fine job & the special effect 'sounds' do encompass/surround you... but the TOTAL package is rather unmemorable. Too many sounds, too many characters talking on top of each other, as well as, lots of background dialog going on... creates a story which would be hard to follow if you had not read The Mist beforehand. I truly love King & his writing, but this audio did not do him justice.

Summary: Superb short novella by King
Review: Following a savage storm, a small group of people are trapped in a supermarket and find themselves in a world where bugs become huge predators meant on devouring us all. They realize that the world has changed and must band together in order to survive this new-born nightmare. Absolutely awesome creation by King.

Summary: GOSH DARN GOOD
Review: I just bought this & listened to it. Wicked scary. I almost ducked and ran a few times at the sounds. Whoever reviews this book & says it is not scary, weird, not good, etc. should be drug out into the street & shot. If you want something scary to listen to on your CD player (other than the Backstreet Boys or any related "heartthrobs"...), then listen to this. You will love it!

Summary: Not what I thought.
Review: I like to listen to audio books and follow along in the book at the same time. I couldn't do that with this CD. The story is good just the same, but it wasn't like "normal" audio books. It didn't "read" the story. To me it was like hearing a movie that I couldn't see. Not a terrible thing, but it wasn't what I thought.

Summary: Only the SCARIEST THING I'VE EVER LISTENED TO!
Review: I read Stephen King's "The Mist" in "Skeleton Crew" about a year ago, and I loved it. Then I heard about the 3D Audiobook Dramatization. I bought it and listened to it, and I was SHOCKED. I expected something like a few people talking in my left ear and my right ear, and maybe a few screams and such, but when I listened to this... My GOD... I could have sworn I was right there with everyone else! Let me tell you, I WAS SCARED. Maybe that's where my insomnia began...

Summary: Good idea, poor execution. Not scary.
Review: I was very dissapointed with this recording.

The dialogue in this cd is very cheesy and takes away from the power of the binaural audio. They did not use the binaural audio enough, it is only spiced in here and there.

The kid really ruins it in my opinion. They should have gotten a more mature actor for that part.

Also, the story is one continuous 70 minute track which is annoying if you want to stop and come back to the story later on.

Summary: Great atmospheric(no pun intended) horror story!
Review: I would rank this audio book as one of the best produced that I have heard. The 3d sound is amazing and the acting is superb. You feel a palapble sense of impending doom and horror as the story enfolds. A simple straightforward horror story done in a very entertaining way.
