Rating: Summary: The King-ster Live!!! Review: I love to listen to Stephen read. That down-east Maine quirk in his speech is just very right somehow. The fact that this was done before a live British audience making it an interactive experience was a major plus!! They seemed to react differently at different parts than I would assume an American audience would. See if you don't agree. I won't delve into the plot or the characters (can't develop much anyway in 1 hour) but the adjective that keeps coming to mind is "cute". A tad spooky, a tad sad, a tad funny, a tad morose but altogether worth the [money] joy ride.
Rating: Summary: Always a pleasure Review: I think it is important with audio books that the author read it and not someone else. To me it adds a new dimension to the story as we hear the story the way the autor hears it. King delivers a rare visit as he reads this one and I think it is well worth the money and worth giving a listen to over and over again.
Rating: Summary: Storytelling at it's best Review: I thoroughly enjoyed experiencing this audiobook! Stephen Kings telling of the tale adds a wonderful dimension to this story. And a good story it is! You will laugh, you will cry, and when it is all over, you will want more!!!
Rating: Summary: A Good listening experience (cd) Review: It was rather enjoyable to listen to Stephen King read something to we the readers for a change. There is no click between tracks, and I felt He didn't have any annoying habits when reading aloud. A great purchase in my opinion. The story line kept me interested, although most Stephen King does. - Enjoy it, it's worth it.
Rating: Summary: Short but funny Review: LT's Theory of Pets is a short but very funny short story read by the master himself, Stephen King. King's stories are alway better read by the man himself. He adds the right charcter to his own works. A must for the King fans out there and although it states that an interview will follow it doesn't. Probably the biggest dissappointment of the entire tape. Wish it was available in CD form so I could listen to it in at work and share it with others. Just be careful when driving as you will laugh so hard at some parts you could drive off the road!
Rating: Summary: Interestingly Funny Review: Okay I'll try to make this review long but its a short tape. I was very pleased with it. Stephen King shows off his funny witt in the start of the tape, and he tells the story very well as if someone in your family was sitting around telling it. The story is about a family a couple rather, who then end up getting pets. He tells the story of how pets can act like their owners. Its funny, and serious, and the ending did shock me. I liked this because it wasn't as long as his other book on tapes or his books rather. I listened to it in one night. Reason for the three stars is because I was expecting a bit more on the tape. I thought King had said on the second side there will be answers and questions and there wasn't. All in all it's funny, serious, and with a shocking ending. Or at least I thought so. So I would definately get this because its something different I think by King. But it will definately catch your interest in the start of the story :)
Rating: Summary: This is Stephen King's work, right? Review: Quite unexpectedly amusing! I bought this expecting more of the 'typical Stephen King' blood and gore, but what I got was witty and interesting. King's opening remarks are just as funny as the story! His hick-like Maine accent adds the perfect amount of country to the characters and listening to the author read something the way he intended it to be read is always a worthwhile experience. The only complaint I have is that this short story was too short (about an hour long with intro.)! But if you're a die-hard horror fan don't worry, this has got an ending just for you! A very enthusiastic five-stars (six if it were an option)! (As a matter of fact I'm listening to it right now.)
Rating: Summary: Delicious Treat Review: Stephen give a reading of his short story before a live audience and I hope he does this again. There was an extra sense of spooky magic on this recording. Perhaps it came from the audience reaction or perhaps it was because King is obviously enjoying himself. The story starts out as quite funny. L.T. is a man who was married---badly to a dizty woman who leaves him and the cat, taking the dog with her. Of course since this is SK the story takes a dark turn. If you were not pleased with Dreamcatcher and you are a SK fan this audio story is a delicious little treat to tide you over until SK gets back on track with his books.
Rating: Summary: Don't miss this one! Review: Stephen King has come up with a gem of a story. This rare reading, recorded in England, I believe in 1997, is a wonderful find for us Americans. Previously published in the very rare 'Six Stories', it's now available for the mainstream. The story itself has to do with a retelling of LT's theory of pets and why you should never buy a pet for another person, in the retelling we come to find out the LT's wife has left him and this event has started the whole theory process. Of course, this being a SK story, nothing is ever what it seems on the surface. My only complaint with this version is that it leaves off the interview with SK that is available on the British version. Thanks for reading! ~Pandora
Rating: Summary: A Treat...... Review: Stephen King is a fantastic storyteller, and this is no exception. It's a pleasure to hear King read his own work, and to hear the auidence's feedback. The story is about how a wife leaves her husband and leave's the cat, which she never liked. I know the plot sounds simple, but in the hands of King, it's a wonderful read. There was times when I was actually laughing out loud. It was interestig (and funny) how King points out how some animals bond to the to either their owners, and what the pets do to the owners they dont' like. I highly suggest that you go out and join the rest of the Stephen King fans and buy this book on audio.
