Summary: Like Foreplay
Review: This book is a necessary chapter in the Merry Gentry series. This is the third book in the series, not the 10th, not the 20th, so Hamilton has left it open-ended enough to invite new readers. The character development is excellent. In the 2nd book it seemed that Hamilton started to lose interest in her characters, but in this book she has given them all a new "breath of life" and new dimensions. Now that the characters are fully developed, the plot can move forward in future novels. This is just a small piece of the puzzle, but oh what an intriguing piece. It's like showing a bit of flesh instead of the entire package.

My advice, sit back and enjoy the "foreplay", the best is yet to come.

Summary: Best of the Three
Review: Like a lot of reviewers, I was surprised that Merry's visits to the Goblin and Seelie courts didn't get covered in this book. But a LOT happened, and there's a lot of set-up for the future. Merry returns to the Unseelie court, and new or returned magic is everywhere. It's not really short - 367 pages. The sex scenes were amazing, and we learn more about some of the original 5 guards, as well as meeting new ones. The book left me wondering "Where's book 4?!"

Summary: Another LKH book devoured.
Review: While my favorite series of LKH remains Anita's, I am enjoying watching Merry's world unfold, too. I didn't find the book to be overly complex as some other reviews indicate. I also disagree that Anita & Merry are indistinguishable. I find the characters to have similarities but very prominent distinctions. I plowed right through and can't wait for the next installment - of course, the next Anita will come first if Laurell's pattern remains unchanged. It is so hard to wait a whole year for another book. But I'm glad she takes the time she does for the development of each installment.

A recommended read for those who have read the first two and enjoyed them.

Summary: Fantastic,Can't wait for BOOK#4................
Review: I just recieved this book a few days ago and threw myself into my own private space and devoured this book in a short time. Enjoyable, sad, funny and enthralling emotions with Merry and her Ravens. After reading this book,my respect went up for Andais the Queen of Darkness. She now understands Merry and respects her,and maybe hoping that Merry will be Cel. I think also she knows what Cel could do to the Fae and what horrors could come to pass. This book is now my favorite in the series, and have one question. How long before BOOK#4 comes out? I can't wait to see what happens next with Merry and her growing GUARDS and even making friends and more enemies. I highly recommend this series.

Summary: The lack of plot is disturbing
Review: I give this book 3 stars because I love Laurell K Hamilton, Merry Gentry, and the other two books in the series a great deal and just can't bear to give her 1 star. That said..if you like a book that's just one baby step away from porn and don't care about plot, go for it!
The first 2/3 of the book really have no plot whatsoever. It's mostly sex, kinky sex, power-sex, and more sex. I could forgive that if the last 1/3 of the book hadn't been so good..we finally get some plot, some mystery, some deductive reason, all the stuff we love in a Merry novel.
I won't give it away but the ending of the book left you sitting in your chair saying "What?" It seemed like there should have been a lot more to that book than what there was.
So, it gets 3 stars...the average of 5 stars for the last 1/3 of the book and and 1 star for the first 2/3.
It was probably the most disappointing Laurell K Hamilton I've ever read made worse by the fact that I waited so long for it.

Summary: Not Your Average Love Story, Thankfully!!
Review: I am a huge fan of Laurell K. Hamilton, and I love to read her books. This one was no exception. It was a fast read for me, I can never slowly read her books. It was a little involved in places, but over all, I would highly recommend this book. This is a book that I will read over and over. It is not your average love story, but that's the whole point!

Summary: frustrated
Review: Frustrated because Hamilton is a decent writer but this book did not showcase her talent (as the last Anita Blake book did not). And is it just me or is Merry turning into another Anita?

I wish the author could give us meatier stories. Buying her expensive hardcover books is becoming a little hard to swallow.

Summary: Merry Genty, back at it again........
Review: The third book in the Merry Gentry series is the best yet, and promises more good things to come with future adventures. Although they pale in comparison with the Anita Blake series, they're still a good series, dripping with the usual court and politiacl intrugues, magic, and of course, sexual intrigues. Its a good book, the only dissapointing aspect being that it really isn't long enough.

Summary: Wait for Paperback
Review: Ok, I am a huge Laurell fan and have read both series over and over again. I pre-ordered this book before it was even released and I was so excited to get it in the mail. It took me less than 2 days to read and I agree with a few other reviews that it was confusing and winded in the first three quarters of the book. I still love all the characters and will continue to read the rest of the series but Laurell if you read these reviews, PLEASE MAKE THE BOOKS LONGER! This one could have had way more added to the story like the trip to the Goblin court or a trip to the Seelie Court. For $36 Canadian, I expected more. I look forward to the next Anita. A recommended read but don't rush to buy it.

Summary: Time moves slowly for Merry and her MerryMen
Review: Like a good Chinese Dinner ...... Left me hungry an hour after I finished reading ......

Ok so it did only cover a couple of days, but when you consider that she had to get some of the events from "A Caress of Twilight" resolved, well she did clear some of that up; OK not all but we are closer to understanding what the "Nameless" did to each of them.

Frost has always been a favorite of mine but I found his attitude tiring, but finding out about his true origin was great. There were surprises in store for some of my other favorite Raven's and the new guards will prove to be entertaining in the next title I'm sure. I am curious what the goblin twins will have in store.

Not making it to the Goblin court or the Seelie court was disappointing in this book, but it is something to look forward to.

I have been a fan of LKH for quite some time now. Taking on two series is a phenomenal task especially when they are in two different worlds. A book a year from each series is more than her readership should ask for but that is what she is attempting. I look forward to each of her titles with anticipation.

I think some readers expect months/weeks to take place in one title and with Merry Gentry things are moving slowly. Afterall when you are immortal like the fey there is all the time in the world.
