Summary: This is the greatest book about revenge and love.
Review: She had once been an innocent young girl, full of love, life and happiness, until the one day that she was kidnapped, sold like a slave during a sick and twisted auction, and then forced to perform the most horrific acts for her "master". But she refused to give up, and when she finally does escape, along with two other male slaves (twins), she then begins to plot her revenge, along with trying to seek out her missing child which she feels is still alive and the twin to her daughter.

Summary: It was about 150 pages too long.
Review: The book was exceedingly slow to start. The narratives were distracting. Tomasino wasn't as delicious as he thought he was. I had absolutely little empathy for any of the characters. Overall, it left me flat and the premise had so much promise.

Summary: "Belladonna" Bites Back
Review: The cover caught my attention--red ruby lips and the blurb--"A Novel of Revenge". And that is exactly what Karen Moline delivers. No, it's not "War & Peace". More like a weaving seductive sampler of good little girl goes bad.

In 1935, a naive midwestern girl, Isabella Ariel Nickerson, visits London. Her invitation to a grand party with the elite did not mention her capture and entrance to a secret world of sexual slavery. Delving deeply into Domination and submission, Isabella learns well. She returns to New York as a dazzling, not so naive, "Belladonna". And vows to have her own way with her captors from England.

Some of this novel is slow, bogged down in details and dialougue. But, "Belladonna" is a passionate kinky poison treat of a read.

Thank you for your interest & comments--CDS

Summary: SAVE YOUR MONEY!!
Review: This book drags along,as told by Tomasino, who is not nearly as clever as he would have you believe. He'll lead up to big act of revenge, and What?! that's what they've been plotting over for days? There are too many good books out there to waste your time on this one!

Summary: Trashy read, couldn't put it down!
Review: This book had me reading between meals, for hours before bed, and was in my hand first thing in the morning!

The plot is quite a hook -- a woman seeking revenge on a tormentor she does not know by name. Moline weaves an interesting tale that takes us from London, to Belgium, Italy, New York, and Virginia, and she describes each place magically. I'd compare her descriptive talent matching those in F. Scott Fitzgerald's "Diamond as Big as the Ritz." The sumptuous details of each place, its buildings, furnishings, and people are so evocative. The narrator is a Dominick Dunne-like fellow with a wry wit and sharp tongue (I pictured Truman Capote as I was reading -- chubby, effeminate, wicked). Throw in a little Anne Rice style Gothic sexual horror and you've got yourself a hell of a read!

The sex parts -- I didn't find them thrilling at all. Actually, they're quite disturbing. When you get down to it, what happens to her is kidnap and rape -- not sexy in my book. But the scenes (late in the book, so you are practically BEGGING to find out what happened to her) help you understand her struggle and need for revenge.

My only criticism is that the ending was too pat. After building up to such a climax (it takes nearly 2/3rds of the book to find "the villian"), it was a disappointing ending. However, the vivid descriptions and juicy, gossipy tone of the narrator made it a fun diversion -- just be prepared for a letdown at the end.

Summary: Good, but too long....
Review: This book has everything. Love, Hate, Betrayal, and Revenge...
I personally could not put this book down. Moline does an excellent job portraying the feelings and experiences of the main character. I recommend this book to everyone who needs a little mysterious drama in their lives.

Summary: Couldn't put it down!
Review: This book hooked me from the first page and wouldn't let go! It's a bit of "The Story of O" with a twist. You become so attached to the characters (especially "dear Tomasino") and just keep turning the pages to see what will happen next. Sex, intrigue, revenge, fantasy - it's got it all. A must read.

Summary: Absolutely riveting!!!!!
Review: This book is the greatest novel I've ever read. It is a novel of great sorrow and great strength. It was very difficult to put the book down each night. I hope to read more of Ms. Moline's work!

Summary: Belladonna - Karen Moline
Review: This had to be the most sensual and seductive book I have ever had the fortune of reading. Even as a hardcore S/M enthusiast myself, this book did not fail to surprise, intrigue, capture and keep my attention, and absolutely take my breath away. This is definitely on my top five of all time book favorites. I could read it again and again. It's deliciously wicked. An exquisite read.
