Summary: A little too much for me to swallow.......
Review: When I delve into a book, I expect (even look forward to) suspending disbelief and letting the author take me on a ride. As long as he is skillful, and doesn't insult my intelligence, that is. I believe the basic premise of this book- that a boy could, with the power of his mind, create a monster called a golem out of soil and twigs and mud. I'm willing to accept that. Really. What I will not accept is that at the beginning of the book a police officer and a holed up suspect will talk to each other using only the titles of old Elvis songs. No way. What I also refuse to believe, is that at the end of the book Lassie saves everyone. I'm not kidding. The dog isn't named Lassie, but Koontz has lifted the dog character directly out of the old television series, and for some inexplicable reason, deposited him here as a last minute plot device. (We even see things from the dog's perspective, for crying out loud.) Give me giant, twig and mud monsters created by a little boy's imagination any day, but don't insult my intelligence.

Summary: Same as all the others, just a different cover . . .
Review: Another bland cookie from Koontz. This is his cookie cutter: Male and female protagonists take on a third character, usually a child or animal. One of the three is somehow linked to someone who is stalking them as the result of either a government comspiracy or a genitic experiment. Yawn! Where's the suspence???

Summary: Fun, but typical Koontz
Review: I listened to Dragon Tears on audio and enjoyed it, but like another reviewer, it reminded me of other Koontz novels. It was a cool story idea, having a 20 year old man with supernatural powers try to rid the world of people he didn't feel deserved to be here. Like a homeless man and a woman and child living out of their car. When a police officer accidently ticked him off, he and his partner are the next in line. I thought Dean Koontz did a good job of making the apparitions scary, and the narrative by the dog was great. I love dogs, and this sounded like I would have imagined the dog to be able to think and talk. The only drawback was that I think the police officers figured out the whole plot way too fast. I would have never guessed what was causing the terrifying beasts to appear, or have been able to figure out who was behind it, but that's fiction and it was a fun listen. I like all of Koontz's novels, this wasn't my favorite, but I would recommend it to anyone who likes a little horror.

Summary: Decent--Could be Much Better
Review: I have read several Koontz novels. It seems like we are beginning to see patterns from previous novels(i.e. dogs, TICKTOCK(actually another book), supernatural, warped personalities). I feel like I have read a similar story from previous stories written by Koontz. I think the dog piece is a stretch. The explanation of Bryan was another reach for the reader. I didn't feel the characters and their interaction with TICKTOCK was a good fit. I would recommend the book--but if you are a Koontz fan--you have seen this type of story before.

Summary: Loved the dog, hated the end
Review: I'm a constant reader of Dean Koontz novels, and I think his books are wonderful. This book was no exception. I always love the dogs in Koontz's books, and I especially loved the parts of this story told from the dog's viewpoint - very original! However, the end left me cold. How did all those people end up together? Could have been developed a little more.

Summary: sorta scary and creepy, but good
Review: This is another enjoyable novel written by Dean Koontz. I would put this one on the top ten list of Koontz novels as it was full of suspense!

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: Great story, but kind of fizzles out....
Review: I'm a huge Dean Koontz fan, and I found the plot of this book to be one of his most creative yet. I especially loved the parts of the story told from the dog's perspective - most unique and very entertaining! However, I was left with a kind of empty feeling at the end. A lot of unanswered questions.

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: Typical Koontz.
Review: Typical Koontz -- a little unbelievable, rather suspenseful at the end, a tiny bit silly. I'm sorry but I don't think that writing from the point of view of a dog is a particularly effective literary device.
