Rating: Summary: Different and fun.. Review: "Bitten" is the first book that I have read of its kind,. Wow!! What a book. Definitely different. I found that I had a hard time liking Elena..but that was what was so great about her ..she was real and she was strong. Though i will say that I will never understand how it was so upsetting to her to live with the Pack...my God!! To be surrounded by all of those hot men who just coddeled you all day long!!! Im there!!! Clay was so sexy and I loved his devotion to Elena even though he didnt always make the right decisions regarding how he should handle things between them. I will say though at Nick was my fave..OH MY!! WHat a house full of men!! Whew!! Anyways, Id recommend this book..it is definitely different and entertaining, though I will tell you now that if you are at all offended by violence, then this is not the book for you. Oh and one last thing...I LOOOVE THE FRONT COVER!
Rating: Summary: Unexpectedly engrossing -- more than the sum of its parts Review: Bitten is a ... mystery and romance novel in werewolf's clothing. Not that there's anything wrong with that. I found both facets very intriguing (so much that I read it all in one day). Would I have read the book if it didn't involve werewolves? Probably not. But, the werewolf aspect is more than shell; it's quite integral to the storyline. If you like reading about werewolves in modern settings, I don't think you can go wrong with Bitten.
Rating: Summary: Just what the werewolf genre needed Review: Elena Michaels is on the path to having the life she always wanted. She has a successful career and a wonderful live in boyfriend. There's just one problem, Elena is a werewolf. When Jeremy, her pack alpha, calls for her help to fight a threat to the pack she quickly gets caught up with pack life again and her first love, Clay. Elena resents her life as a werewolf because it was forced upon her but as the threat to the pack worsens she begins to realize how important the pack is to her and how quickly it could all be taken away. I've never been a big fan of werewolf novels but this one is an exception. Armstrong's werewolf ethos is simple and refreshingly cliche free. Her descriptions of werewolf thought and actions are feral without being so far removed from humanity that they become unbelievable. Elena is just the right mix of toughness and vulnerability and is someone you want to keep reading about. Clay is a wonderful character as well. He could have easily become a very pitiable character but Armstrong, thankfully, saves him from that fate. The writing is face paced and leaves you wanting more. Armstrong is certainly an author to watch and I'm sure I'll relentlessly hunt down and read all her future works.
Rating: Summary: Warning ! Later readers's comments contain SPOILERS ! Review: Enjoyable book! Modern, independent sort of female protagonist. Great for those of us who love those sexy werewolf and vampire tales.
Rating: Summary: Found it hard to relate to Review: Elena Michaels is a werewolf with a past and present that is unravelling on her in a sudden manner. She's also the world's only female werewolf - a legend in the werewolf community (all men) before she survived the change after being bitten. It makes her hot property as the possible mother to a "pure" werewolf race in some eyes. My problem with this book is not the writers skill at telling a story so much as that I found I simply didn't like Elena. For me she was *too* beautiful and feral and abused to really relate too. It wasn't helped that Clay, her ex-boyfriend-cum-lover was even harder to like as he came across as a totally amoral person that made you wonder what (aside from looks) attracted Elena to him in the first place. About half way through this book I found myself putting it down and picking it up without any real urgency to finish it and ended up sort of skimming through to the end. The result of reading about people I never really seemed to connect to. Also, werewolf-ism with this group seems like rabies or aids. Never let them slobber on you - you'd be doomed!
Rating: Summary: Awsome book! Review: This book is a page turner from the start. Elena is not your everyday herione of a book. she has a lot of issues and deals with things as they come. Truly a refreshing charactor. Elena was bitten by her fiance who is a werewolf. She has never forgiven him for it, and finds herself the only female werewolf to survive. She decides that she is going to go to the city and try to have a normal life, such as it is. She gets engaged to a nice "normal" man, and is living her life, when she is called back to the "pack" to deal with some renegade werewolves, or "mutts". When she gets there, she has to deal with her ex, the pack that she belongs too, and some "mutts" that have managed to organize themselves enough to create havoc. This is a strong woman, who makes no apologies for what she is. I am going to get her next book, "Stolen" as soon as it comes out.
Rating: Summary: Wonderful Werewolf Book! Review: As a fan of Laurell K. Hamiltons' Anita Blake series and Tanya Huff's Blood series, I found "Bitten" to be a wonderfully written, fresh perspective on the genre. Elena is easy to relate to, but still a complex, layered character. Her personal relationships are equally complex and layered. Other than mentioning that this is a book about werewolves, from their point of view, I do not want to say too much about it. It is brilliant. I cannot wait until "Stolen" comes out. I am glad that I picked this book up on a whim. It was well worth the price!
Rating: Summary: Couldn't put it down! Review: Other people have summed the plot of this novel, so I'll just give you my impression. This was a highly readable werewolf story and I highly recommend it. So many vampire/werewolf/witch books can be fake and unbelievable with poor dialogue. Here, the 'pack' mentality described within this book is carefully explained through believable examples. Elena is neither the damsel in distress nor the dangerous, leather-clad sexual icon - she's just very real. Also, there's a lot of interesting action in this book, which is a welcome departure from the stale/redundant plot lines too common in books today. I couldn't put it down. I fell asleep reading it last night in bed and had to finish the last 20 pages it at work this morning, hiding the novel from the view of my co-workers by sticking it inside my day planner. I can't wait for the next two.
Rating: Summary: Really good read Review: I just finished this book, and really enjoyed it. The main character, Elena, is struggling to maintain her life in mainstream Toronto, and keep her lycanthropy a secret from her human boyfriend. One day, she is contacted by the Alpha of the Pack she fled. Curious, and unable to reach him by phone, she returns to the Pack, to learn their existance is under threat by renegade loner-werewolves (mutts). Elena is sucked back into Pack life, whether she likes it or not. And also is sucked back into the bed of her werewolf ex-lover, Clayton. My thoughts are; some characters were disposed of too quickly (Peter, Logan and Koenig, to name a few). Perhaps this was because they weren't main important characters. I'm wondering if a sequel is on the horizon- as there are many loose ends, and questions left unanswered.
Rating: Summary: Well written and entertaining for a book about wherewolves Review: Eana is a young attractive woman who just wants to live a normal life. The problem is that ten years ago a werewolf, who just happened to be her fiancée, bit her. This of course made her a werewolf. The only female werewolf alive. She has left her wolf family, the pack, and is now trying to settle down and live a normal life. Unfortunately, she still has all the werewolf needs, like the need to eat enormous amounts of food. When the pack leader calls her to return to the pack, she is forced to confront her inner demons, or should I say, inner werewolf. She is also forced to deal with her ex who is still in love with her. The plots is a mixture of love story, and also thriller as Elana and her pack hunt down and try to stop killings of the pack members. I enjoyed every part of this book. Thankfully it was all relatively logical, considering the subject. Without a doubt the writer is a gifted writer and made the werewolves seem real.
