Rating: Summary: The Greatness of the Green Mile Review: Steven King's portrayal of the guards and their relationship with the inmates is what sets his talent apart from most authors. He reached inside the soul of these characters, yet kept them strict enough to uphold their responsibilities and job. One regret I have was that the central inmate character was black. I hope the impact of this book and movie would be equal if this larger than life character had been white. It played your emotions from shock, shame, shock again. It was unpredictable, and kept you hoping somehow the black inmate would be "redeemed". It the end he was redeemed!
Rating: Summary: King's gift of description is truly amazing!! Review: Such a page turner. King turns such well-crafted prose; he intertwines the intimate details of the murders of the two girls, with routine details of home life of the warden as well as the daily grind of several prison wardens. His gift for description of the most ordinary or even routine things such as the last 40 feet walking to death in the electric chair is extremly breathtaking. I am waiting with baited breath for book number two!!
Rating: Summary: I'm ready for part two! Review: The first book of this series has captured my imagination already. The characters in this book have so much personality I feel as if I'm there with them. If it were a mini-series I'd tune in for the second night, and I hate "to be continued...". Bring on the next book.
Rating: Summary: This was an awesome series of books King wrote! Review: The last book of King's series contained an unexpected and awesome ending. I could not figure out for the life of me why that daggone mouse was so important to the series. It was amazing how King connected the mouse to the prisoners, and then to his own destiny. Although extremely hard to follow at times, the series itself kept you on the edge of your seat. I hated waiting for the next book to come out, but I guess it was worth it in the end. Stephen King has not lost his knack for writing
Rating: Summary: The green mile audio set was great Looking for more like it. Review: This audio set introduced me to audio books. I am now looking for books similar to that set. I loved it.
Rating: Summary: A little bit too fictional Review: This book is a very good book to read if you
like to get the shivers but some of it is very hard to think about
Rating: Summary: Gave me a totally different perspective of prison inmates . Review: This book kept me turning the pages until I finished it. Stephen King has the gift of putting himself in another's place and accurately describing it. He makes you see AND FEEL what it would be like to be John Coffey; as well as what it would be like to be Paul the superintendant. He makes you see the prisoners as real people with real feelings; not just an inmate which I believe people today tend to think of as something less than human that deserves no rights of any kind. I felt John Coffey's pain; and Paul's pain at having to do his duty. I felt the fear of the little frenchman; and genuinely felt his love for his little pet, as I have multiple pets myself. This book makes you see each prisoner as the unique human being they are and makes you ponder whether capital punishment is something that should be allowed. Do we have the right to play God? This is another message I believe Stephen King was trying to convey. Book number four was by far the most vibrant part-the bad death of Eduard Delacroix. I have read that part over and over and still get the goosebumps and chilled over such a vivid description. It scares the pants off of you. I can't putit strongly enough that we need to rethink our ideals on killing for the sake of justice; even though his crime was unforgivable, did he deserve to die in such a manner? Stephen King makes you feel for the little frenchman regardless of his henious crime. Stephen King is the most talented writer I have ever read and I hope he never stops writing. I think the man has a true God given talent for really terrific stories and movies.
Rating: Summary: could have been about a million times better Review: This book was very disappointing. I tried it because I had been hearing so much about the great Stephen King and I saw the movie "It" and liked it. I guess I picked the wrong book, because it really did not read well. I found myself having a hard time understanding the whole mouse thing, that made them want to stop doing excetions. (Could someone explain that to me? Please!) I thought it was disappointing and I'll try CARRIE, but if that is just as bad, no more King for me. I'll try Dean Kootz instead.

Rating: Summary: The Starting Book To The Bok Of The Year!!!! Review: This book was wild! I mean, it has a little bit of everything that a writter would write in several different books. This book had it all from suspence all the way down to humor. This book was very interesting and kept me turning pages. I WOULD recomend this book but, a well reader doesn't need a recomendation to find a great book.
