Rating: Summary: Lucky Elliot :) Review: The story of a lucky Guy who had the time of his life with Mistress Lisa. He gets to experience what many of us only dream of. Erotic Submission to a stunning and stinging Female DOM. A good read up to page 120 or so.
Rating: Summary: I was extremely disappointed! Review: The book just did not hold my interest very well. It was long and tedious, and I couldn't wait for it to be over. The characters were not believable nor were they erotic. They came across quite clown-ish. Anne Rice is an excellent writer, but from this novel you would never believe it.
Rating: Summary: Wonderful story coupled with steamy, erotic scenes. Review: This book was hard to put down. The story was excellent, and the erotic scenes were just as good. Like all of Anne's books, this one was very tastefully done. Well worth it!
Rating: Summary: Pathetically bad! Review: This is some of the worst trash I have ever had the misfortune to listen to. The language is overwrought, the plot far-fetched and shallow, and even the readers sounded embarrassed to be involved in the project. However, it did make me laugh out loud quite often. Maybe the book was better. For a good S&M story, try Alasdair Gray's "Something Leather"
Rating: Summary: Trashy Review: I picked up this title based on the recommendation of a friend, and I have to say I was rather disappointed. I expected Ann Rice to be a virtuoso. She turned out to be a hack with an anal fixation. The dialogue and narration is only slightly better written than Penthouse letters, and the effect is less erotic. The only reason I rated the book as high as I did is because it read quickly, so at least I didn't waste a lot of time getting through it.
Rating: Summary: Better than the Movie. Review: I read Exit after watching the lousy movie with Rosa O'Donnell. Fortunately, the book is nothing like the movie. Instead of a being a cheesy adventure/ comedy, this book is an awesome erotic-romance. The scenes are stimulating enough to get even the most ice cold heart boil
Rating: Summary: Not her best, but good Review: The concept of the story, the "S/M Club Med" was an interesting one, but didn't seem to be taken to it's full potential. A good story of the relationship between the two main characters gets mired between not knowing if it should be an erotic novel or a harlequin romance. Her sexual writing is more vanilla than in her other writings (Beauty series, etc.) and she never gets to heavily involved in the sex scenes. The lack of attention to the sexual parts and the confusion of what it was meant to be is what keeps it from a higher rating. It is a good read however, if you don't expect too much from it but a good "human" story
Rating: Summary: Terrific! Truly one of Anne Rice's best books. Review: This was a wonderful book which was a combination erotica and love story. Anne Rice vividly brings to life the characters in thi novel. She makes me want to run off and join The Club
Rating: Summary: Don't be fooled by the film! Review: Readers will be pleased to know that _Exit to Eden_ is one of Rice's early works, and one of her best. It is erotic, sexy and gently perverse. Rice brings to life the sadomasochistic fantasy of middle America. Her language is rich, and the sex is explicit.
That it is pornographic is beyond any doubt, but it's pornography of the highest calibre. The novel is deceptively metatextual, borrowing from gothic classics like Stoker's _Dracula_ and Radcliffe's _Romance of the Forrest_. But the premise of the genre is delightfully twisted. Rice calls readers to question the true nature of perversion and sexual monstrosity by illustrating that these terms are necessarily cultural. In a world of extreme sexuality, perhaps simply holding hands is a subversive act.
Rating: Summary: An erotic love story for Nineties. Review: I enjoyed Exit to Eden for the simple reason that I love Anne Rice. But on a more specific note I would say that the character development really pulls you into the mystery of this island paradise/training facility. The subject matter is completely appropriate for the love story which unfolds towards the end of the book. I particularly like the way the book ends for the obvious "happy ending" reasons but also for the "bring you back down to earth" feeling it leaves you with, after being taken so far from reality it deposits you right back into everday life.
Very enjoyable reading. Perfect for the beach or a rainy day.
