Summary: King manipulates the plot to make this an exciting thriller
Review: The electric chair is one of the most widely used methods of execution in the U.S today. In "The Mouse on the Mile", the second book of the series The Green Mile, the electric chair plays an important role in the lives of the characters, who are all on death row. Stephen King uses suspense to make this a great book. This is done through the shifting around of the plot throughout the book, and way that he leaves the reader hanging in those exciting parts of the book. This book revolves more around the plot than the characters themselves. Although the plot is exciting it does get confusing at times when it keeps jumping around. A good example of the plot shifting and changing is when Paul Edgecomb, the guard, after retiring from Cold Mountain Penitentiary is telling an old woman about his adventures in the prison. One second we're at the prison reliving these adventures and the next second we're talking to the old woman in the nursing home. This worked well for me because it always kept my attention. I never got bored with the book because I just kept on wanting to find out what was going to happen next. Although these shifts and changes at this point in the plot made the book exciting, they also made it confusing at times. There were times when I thought I was at the penitentiary with Paul, but I was really at the nursing home with the old woman. It wasn't until later that I realized that the plot had shifted. This can be seen in other works by King, The Shining being a good example. This is an effective way of writing because the reader never gets bored. He always keeps the reader wanting more. There is no doubt in my mind that this is one of the greatest books I have ever read. It was suspenseful, exciting and there was so much going on in the plot. I liked this, but sometimes I would be reading and all of the sudden wonder where I was. I like this style of writing because it keeps my attention. Even if the reader has to read a paragraph over again to figure out where he is, it still holds his interest. I have noticed this in other books by Stephen King also. This writing technique works as well here as it does in The Shining. For people who enjoy Stephen King but don't like how he sometimes takes four chapters to develop the plot, it's a nice change of pace.

Summary: Just a Mouse?
Review: This book is an exciting thriller! It brings your mind to a place it's never been and keeps you wanting more.
A mouse with its own mind and its own personality that spices things up around the place.
Just wait until you finish this book, the rest is even better!

Review: This book was brilliant. I have been reading the Green Mile in parts and I must say this is the best one of the series. Great characters and writing.
