Summary: Watch out! Your IQ will decrease by reading this!
Review: An earlier reviewer gave this 5 stars and gushed, "You will not stop reading this until you are finished!" Another 5-star bestower said, "This was so suspenseful that you do not know what is going to happen next!" Need I say more about Koontz fans? The next time you want to pick up something by this guy, reconsider and give the really talented and original writers out there a chance instead. If you are one of the reviewers I'm picking on, I'm so, so sorry. On so many levels.

Summary: Too disturbing
Review: I love horror stories, and have read the reviews others have already written about this book. I was looking for someone who shared my main problem with this book, but it seems I am alone so far. At first I thought I was going to love this book - fast paced and all as others have said (though I agree that there is way too much description of Marty running through the house afraid). The thing that is making me stop reading this book though is that one of the story lines deals with incest in a way that is so profoundly disturbing to me as a woman that I can't continue to read the book. It just makes me question Mr. Koonz's motivation in writing this. He is a little TOO good at imagining this fantasy, and it is so painful to read about the woman's reactions -- and so pornographic at times -- that I just found the whole thing pretty disgusting. A warning to woman readers that this book might be too misogynistic to enjoy.

Summary: Couldn't Put It Down
Review: I'm not the biggest reader, but my psych teacher recommended this to me and I couldn't put it down. Most books I can't get into because they don't pull me in fast enough, I was hooked from the beginning and kept wanting to know what was going to happen next. Any Dean Koontz fans or people who like psychology, this is a must buy

Summary: False Talent
Review: As with MR. MURDER, the most interesting thing about FALSE MEMORY was the dog. Solely on the basis of writing about dogs, Dean Koontz is a Nobel Prize-worthy novelist. However, since humans are needed to carry the story along, Koontz loses much of his sense of humanity. The only memorable line in this novel was when Konntz decribed the Rhodes's golden retriever "a love sponge."

The rest of the story was labored, overly detailed, and ultimately pointless. Mr. Koontz ought to better acquaint himself with Coleridge's "suspension of disbelief" because I for one did not think for a minute that any doctor would be able to pull off such omnipotent powers of mind control over even one patient, much less many doing back two decades.

Furthermore, I cannot see how anyone with an iota less patience than a rock could possibly be entertained by Koontz's epic decriptions of his stomping grounds, southern California. It's been said that Koontz had a spare, sparse style of writing- Then why is this brick entitled FALSE MEMORY 755 pages long?

Summary: A book you won't stop reading until you're finished.
Review: I totally loved this book. Even though it gets a little monotonous at the end, Koontz makes the plot of the story change spontaneously, making it even more difficult to put down. For someone who loves psychology and psychiatry as much as I do, this is a great book, because besides from the mental illness the characters develop during the story, the author deals with the character's psychology and emotions. I recommend it for anyone who wants a lot of suspense in a book.

Summary: A Tautly Stretched Rubber Band of Tension
Review: A tautly stretched rubber band of tension that does not let up, literally, until the very end! This is the first nbook I've read by a favorite author that I almost had to quit reading. The villain was so deeply, disturbingly hatefull and annoying that the upper hand he keeps throughout most of the book is almost too much for one to bear!
But as usual, I couldn't put Koontz down and boy was I glad I didn't! As satisfying as any of his books, this one has an edge-of-the-seat shootout in a car in the snowy backroads of Arizona that has you standing up in the library shouting "YES!" over and over again until the Librarian kicks you out!
There is even a quirky little reference to these online reader's reviews on Amazon.com that is as funny as it is thought provoking.
The ending is definitely a surprise, as well as quite satisfying.
All in all yet another in a long line of intensly entertaining and worthwhile books by a master of susepense!

Summary: FALSE HOPE. What happened DEAN! : A Reaction
Review: Like Stephen King, Dean Koontz has a fun and easy flowing writing style. Which in the end helped me get to the end of this 700 page novel.
I was given this novel by my friend who just so happens to be a psychologist, but he never read it. So I was happy to accept a free hardback written by a well known author.
Well to my dismay, I was kind of disappointed. For one thing this 700+ page novel only took place in 4 days, that is alot of pages for a short time frame. Also the actions were kind of boring and by the end Koontz was using the Matrix movie to add to his story. If you read the book you'll know what I mean, but the dialogue was witty, and this was what got me to the end. Sadly I thought Koontz had lost his touch after reading this book.
I later came across a news article with Koontz featured, in it he stated that while writing False Memory he had a severe writers block. You can easily see this is the case after you read this book. I think his editor needed to tighten up the story. If you what to see what this man is capable of then read LIGHTING or MIDNIGHT.

Summary: Classic Koontz!
Review: Like all other Koontz books _Flase Memory_ has a complex story line and an intricate web of characters. he describes the characters so well that you feel as if youve known them your whole life, when really they never even existed. this has got to be one of my favorite Koontz books, ive read it so many times, the front cover is about to fall off. all the characters are easy to relate to. every single character in the book reminded me of someone i know or have met. its a fun exciting read... perfect to curl up with on a cold michigan winter day!(or anywhere else for that matter!!)

Summary: A good Koontz book
Review: I just finished reading "False Memory" and decided to look at the reviews. I was shocked that so many customers gave this book such low ratings. I'm guessing they never read a Koontz novel before and are used to other suspense or horror writers. Koontz does not belong to one genre of writing, so if you're expecting the same kind of thing over and over again, then find another author to read. If you don't like long stories because of a short attention span, then you better go buy yourself a collection of short stories. And for people who didn't like the ending, give me a break. If a book was supposed to end the way you think it should, then what would be the point of reading it the whole way through?
If you are a Koontz fan, I recommend this book to you. This book is similar in theme to The Key to Midnight by Koontz.
For those of you who didn't like this book, I recommend the following Koontz books: Twilight Eyes (A great goblin story), Dark Rivers of the Heart (A great chase and love story), and From the Corner of His Eyes (An awesome story of good and evil).

Summary: A boring Koontz suspense
Review: I have read all Dean R Koontz books, I am always looking for new books from this author, I started to read False Memory at least 10 times and never got my interest, finally I "read" it in one day skipping most parts, sorry Dean I did not like this book at all, excepting Skeet, the characters were completely unappealing.
