Review: I've always been a fan of koontz and after Dark Rivers of the Heart I new he was going in a new direction with his writing and his books have got more entertaining and thrilling. if you didnt enjoy the antics of chris snow and his pals then there has got to be something wrong with you... False memory is one of his best books ever: ingenius story, great characters, fluid, faultless writing. And koontz if your reading this please release the third in the fear nothing trilogy, its driving me nuts! mail me if u agree with my review guy's...(droll_fish@yahoo.com)

Summary: Good first half....bombed after that!
Review: I am a huge Koontz fan and was looking forward to reading this new book only to be let down. What happened you might ask? Well, Koontz has had a propencity in the past to be wordy, but this book takes the cake! I read in an interview that he thought this book was going to be a short story first, but then was able to make it into a novel. I think I know why...he got diarreah of the typewriter. The suspense is there don't get me wrong! Believe me it is very suspenseful! I just wish that it wasn't so wordy beacuse that was the hardest thing to get past. I felt that was when the book lost its suspense. Some people can handle that just fine, but I am not one of those people. I can say that I am anxiously looking forward to part three of his trilogy. I recommend that you might read parts 1 and 2,Fear Nothing and Seize the Night, if you are looking for more good Koontz. Enjoy!

Summary: False Memory, Dean Koontz review
Review: As always I enjoyed Dean Koontz's writing but I found this book a bit long. I felt he could have edited a bit more, but he is still my favourite author.

Summary: A good book, certainly... but I miss the Snowman
Review: Well, this book can definitely be deemed as interesting. But, unfortunately, it's a retread of Night Chills, as another reviewer noted. BUT, on a more positive note, it has a great villain and some really wicked scenes (my fav is where Martie destroys everything in her garage that could be used as a weapon-a scene which ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY reviewer Tom DeHaven intelligently deemed as one of the books best). It also features a villain who is just plain evil. He is called a devil, and i have to agree. There is some genuinely intriguing stuff in this book (e.g. a couple of really odd dream sequences) but, alas, the pacing is slack and alot of it just feels, well, tired. Dean NEEDS to finish the Chris Snow trilogy, as that features his coolest characters and also, in my opinion, generates the most suspense (Seize the Night especially). To sum up, this book is average Koontz fare. a disappointment after the really fun Snow books.

Summary: Thanks for the Memories
Review: To Dean, Since there was quite a bit in the book about Amazon I assume that you do indeed check these boards periodically. I have been a fan since picking up a copy of Phantoms back in the early 80's. As usual, this book kept me riveted. Besides knowing that I will never allow my self to be hypnotized in any way, shape, or form, I also now know what a Haiku is. With apologies to you, the Japanese, and the finer points...I give you this Bliss, a new Story. Dean Koontz once again enthralls. He weaves sweet magic. Jan

Summary: Substandard Compared To Koontz's Other Works
Review: While not a rabid fan of Dean Koontz (on the "Stephen King or Dean Koontz" question, I fall on the King side), I have read all of his novels. I was looking forward to this one, but was sorely disappointed. I found myself checking how far I was into the book - I began to feel like I was slogging through deep mud. As an experiment, I skipped ahead 100 pages to see where the plot had landed. Sadly, it had landed only several hours later, and Martie and her husband had just discovered the major event I had left when I flipped ahead. All in all, a disappointing entry from a normally fast-paced, interesting author.

Summary: Seize the night
Review: Seize the night was great! I could not stop to do what I needed to do. Every time I would put it down I could not wait until I had time to go back to it. I would be thinking about what is going to happen next. I never came up with the next plot. I sometimes can come up with what will happen next in stories, but not with this one. It is imaginative, interesting and scary.

Summary: Try Another Koontz Book
Review: Please don't think that this is the best writing Dean Koontz does. I have been a fan of his for years and his other books, especially Watchers and Lightning are better page turners than this. Just the excerpt shown here shows a different Koontz than I remember. He seems to be out for the grade from the old high School English teacher who constantly harps on metaphors. I caught myself trying to picture all of these mental scenes, losing sight of the real reading. I am not a fan of the INTENSITY of this type of writing. I am not sure who will take his place in my heart and my bedside table ...but his older ones are better. HEAR THIS, Deano, go back to the old ways of the force.

Give his other books a chance...you won't be as disappointed in them.

Summary: A Rhetorical Feast
Review: False Memory is the first novel by Dean Koontz that I have read. The story doesn't pick up until after the first 200 pages. The author had some obvious fun with literary concepts. His descriptions of places and people were liberally sprinkled with metaphors, similes, and metonomies. The Japanese poetry form of haiku plays a central part in the drama. While all of the literary going-ons were interesting, the novel has a flat and unbelievable ending. The main protagonists deserved a more realistic denounment. Still, it was a good read. I couldn't put it down until I finished it.

Summary: Really Cool
Review: This book will stick with you after you have read it. If anyone out there has read "Night Chills" by Koontz, it has the same premise. This book once again has a dog, this time a Golden Retreiver. "False Memory" is really fun to read, and thank goodness it was long, cause I didn't want it to end
