Summary: Not up to the usual standards
Review: Not as good as his other books. You'd be better off to skip this one - or get it at the used paperback store later.

Summary: Highly recommended
Review: The beginning was slow. It gets wonderful. Stick with it and you will not be sorry. I love the metaphors because they make his books seem almost classical. He makes it work somehow .

Summary: one of my favorite books
Review: I had read ten Dean Koontz books before this one, and after reading Hideaway I wasn't sure if I really wanted to read another, the fact that the book was also very long did not help, but for some reason I decided to read this book and it was great, the character are wonderful, and the story fits together well. You should read it I enjoyed it very much.

Summary: 300 pages too long
Review: Koontz is fine in this twisted tale of brainwashing and phobias, but the story becomes diluted in the second half of the book and loses its focus by the time page 600 rolls around. Koontz has been on a roll lately: Dark Rivers of the Heart, Intensity, and the two Christopher Snow novels are the best he's done. I put this one slightly ahead of Sole Survivor, but below the aforementioned four. Wait for this one in paperback. Koontz will be publishing a non-Snow novel "From the Corner of His Eye" next year, with the final Snow novel "RIDE THE STORM", to follow in 2001-2002. Can't wait.

Summary: More is Less
Review: A 600+ page thriller is an oxymoron. You know nothing will trip up the villain on page 150 because you've got 500 pages more to go. This sort of thins out the suspense. Nelson DeMille's latest thriller is also guilty of this. Come on, editors, don't be cowed by the fame of your client..tell them to wield the editing pencil a little more!

Summary: His best so far!
Review: Dean Koontz is always a safe bet for a good read, in spite of the fact that all his books have the same plot! "Couple and dog (children optional), faced by mysterious forces of evil, prevented by some circumstance from getting help from the usual places (such as the police), first flee, then confront the evil, in the Southern California rainy season...." There are a few places in this book where the machinery clanks a bit (Wilderness Encounter with Gunmen is a plug-in module that he's recycled a few times too many), but Koontz always comes up with fresh ideas and believable characters. Some nice touches of humor in this one, too... be careful what you say in an Amazon review!

Summary: Koontz Strikes Again!
Review: Though not the eagerly anticipated final chapter in the Chris Snow saga, this book nonetheless demonstrates why Dean Koontz is at the pinnacle of the genre. The hypnotically induced phobia the heroine in this story endures is almost tangible due to the phenomenal writing that has made Koontz my favorite author for many years. The death of the villainous Dr. Ahriman was well deserved considering his heinous deeds. Unfortunately it means that we will never be treated to a glimpse inside his sick and twisted brain again. Alas! But I am sure Mr. Koontz has many more Dr. Ahrimans waiting to thrill and frighten us.

Summary: An Excellent Reader - definitely Koontz-worthy
Review: While Watchers is still my favorite Dean R. Koontz novel (followed closely by Intensity), this book rates pretty high on my must-read Koontz list. His meticulous approach to detail (the mixture of drugs used on Martie & Dusty, for example), his ability to create a tense situation and his consistent characterization strengths make this one of his better books.

One teeny tiny detail that absolutely thrilled me was Martie's job as a game designer. I am female web programmer, too, and the few of us that reside in "geekworld" will be thrilled to meet Martie - competent, capable and talented!

Summary: Dean Koontz Just Keeps Getting Better
Review: I LOVED this book. I can`t imagine how Mr. Koontz keeps writing these terrific books. Each one is better than the last. False Memory has it all: great plot, wonderful characters, lots of action and suspense, and a bone-chilling villain who will give you nightmares. In spite of the terrible things that happen to the good guys, wonderful things happen too. If only we could "fix" things like this in real life (read the book)! A very satisfying read. The only thing I didn`t like is that it ended!

Summary: Unmemorable Want- to- be Terror Story
Review: Dean Koontz is a fascinating writer. He is able to delve into the hidden fears, phobias and manipulate his characters with accurate portrayal of "that other" lurking beneath the surface. However, this book concentrated too much on the fear itself so that the fear became unscary and tiresome. A husband and wife are brainwashed, a mad scientist is responsible, a few heroes are thrown our way. His best book was River of Darkness - in fact i believe it to be a classic. False Memory is okay, but not as tightly woven as his other books.
