Rating: Summary: Disappointed...VERY disappointed Review: Well, since I was hoping for a continuation of Chris Snow's journey through Ft Wyvern, I was sort of disappointed. Being a big fan of Mr. Koontz's though, I was anxious to read anything new from him. Once the first 400 pages went by it seemed to flow semi-well, but it never picked up like I hoped it would. The character's were interesting, and the "Villian doctor" was pretty evil, but the story just never held me like Watchers, or Strangers. If this is your first Koontz read, don't judge his other work by this book please. Go out and find Watchers, and then read Fear Nothing and Seize the Night.
Rating: Summary: similar Review: Reminded me alot of an earlier work "Night Chills". Slow start but takes off halfway through. Read this one in two days.
Rating: Summary: false memory Review: I have tried to pick up this book 3 times now and just can't seem to get into it. Does it start out slow. I keep hearing how good it is put I just haven't gotten to the point to where I don't want to put the book down. Like most of his other novels. Give me some input please!
Rating: Summary: You'll Remember This One! Review: Hat's off to Mr. Koontz! False Memory is a true page turner. Every character in this book has depth, whether it be the hero, Dusty, the heroine, Martie, or Dusty's burnt out bro, Skeet. I was drawn in from page one, through a story that get's more intense with each paragraph. To me, a great author is one who makes you care about the characters, whether those feelings are good or bad. This book has it all....three dimensional characters, an excellent plot, and enough intrigue and terror to keep you breathless. Also, cudos to Mr. Koontz for his ability to care about the animals in his novels and giving them "stage time" so to speak. For myself, an animal lover, I applaud his efforts to show the depth of character in the animal realm as well as the human realm. This book is a winner!
Rating: Summary: Excellent Story and Full of Suspense Review: I have read most of Koontz's work and I give this one 4 stars. I got tired of some of the phobia talk and I wanted to just jump in and make the characters shape up. It is a busy story and the characters (most at least) are very likeable.
Rating: Summary: The fifth star is for keeping me up at night Review: I can't remember when a story has so thoroughly gotten under my skin. I'm the one who loved the horror movies (so laughable)and telling ghost stories but they never "hungover" the way this story did.I found the book in a half price bookstore over Christmas. I almost didn't buy it, I've been let down by recent stories by Koontz (not the Moonlight bay set). But everything in the store was 20% off half price... Can't go wrong with that. This book took me 3 nights to read, after work. I couldn't put it down, but always reached a point where I had to... I was getting goosebumps & hearing noises & jumping at shadows. This story captivated me. It is the best by Koontz in a long time.
Rating: Summary: False Memory Review: I have read EVERY Dean Koontz book from start to finish. I am not sure why I rated it a 5-star, probably because it scared me so much I was having nightmares every night I was reading it. This is the FIRST time ever reading a book that I got 1/4 of the way through and had to just read the last 50 pages. If frightened me like no other book has ever done! Maybe someday I will pick it up again - but not for awhile! But I will always read anything Koontz publishes!
Rating: Summary: koontz' bet yet Review: This book amazed me at how truly evil someone could be.How a person could actually be so cruel and horrible.I felt that after reading this book,a person could br thrown into a situation that would require him or her to do things they thought they would never be capable of.Koontz' characters are likable, believable, and courageous(even Valet).I've read all of Koontz' books. This one surpasses them all. I only wish Ahriman's fate could have been different. definetly worth reading and remembering!
Rating: Summary: GREAT READ Review: AFTER "SEIZE THE NIGHT" AND "FEAR NOTHING", IT WAS CERTAINLY GOOD TO SEE KOONTZ RETURN TO THE TYPE OF NOVEL WE HAVE COME TO EXPECT FROM HIM. IT IS A BOOK WHICH, WHEN YOU START READING, YOU WILL NOT PUT DOWN TILL YOU FINISH. GLAD TO SEE HIM RETURN TO FORM.
Rating: Summary: Don't read this before going to see the doctor! Review: False Memory is definitely one of the best books that I have read recently. The plot was very interesting, but scary to think that it could actually happen in reality (maybe). Martie and Dusty are very likeable characters who you can feel some attachment to, while Dr. Ahriham is a scary yet all-too real villian. The book, although very long, moves at a fast pace, full of excitement and suspense. There are a lot of thought provoking situations in the book that make you consider just how fragile the human mind is, and what someone with the proper knowledge could actually be capable of. I have read and enjoyed the majority of Koontz's books, and for sure this is one of his best. I would personally rank it up with Seize the Night and Fear Nothing, which are my other favorites. But as I said, it definitely gives you second thoughts about going to the doctor anytime soon after reading it. But if you start having weird nightmares and losing bits of time, don't say you weren't warned!
