Rating: Summary: Koontz Has Done it Again! Review: Koontz is a master of weaving several genres into one. His novels invariably contain action, romance, science fiction, horror, and suspense. 'Fear Nothing' is no different.
Christopher Snow has a rare genetic disorder that forces him to avoid all UV rays- whether their source is the sun or a light bulb. Although Chris lives in virtual darkness (candlelight does him no harm), he finds brightness in the small coastal town of Moonlight Bay.
However, on the evening of his father's death (his mother died two years before), he soon begins to realize that his parents' deaths may not have been accidental.
As he starts asking questions around town, he realizes that not everyone is quite who they seem. He also discovers that the local animals are quite a bit "smarter than the average bear"; his trustworthy canine, Orson, included. He knows that he is in danger- from whom or what he still can not surmise.
As the mystery unravels, Chris always seems to maintain a positive edge,
" Perhaps extreme danger strips us of all pretenses, all ambitions, all confusions, focusing us more intensely than we are otherwise ever focused, so that we remember what we otherwise spend most of our time forgetting: that our nature and purpose is, more than anything else, to love and to make love, to take joy from the beauty of the world, to live with an awareness that the future is not as real a place for any one of us as are the past and present."
Although the odds are slim that we will ever find ourselves in a situation such as Chris's, we can still glean the wonderful gems of wisdom that are abundant in 'Fear Nothing.' In the words of Christopher Snow, "Friendship, love, and surf. Get them while they're hot. Get them before they're gone. Get them while you're still human enough to know how precious they are."
Rating: Summary: It is a very intersting book Review: I feel that Fear Nothing is an interesting book that you just can't stop reading it. I think the disease that Chris Snow had was very interesting. Only be able to live at night and hiding yourself away in the morning. His father's last comments before he died really gave the book some sort of action and adventure. Those 2 words made Chris acheieve and go places he never ventured. Orson was so humanlike that it was actually scary yet intersting. Sascha is the perfect girlfriend and Bobby is to cool. A job well done to Dean Koontz
Rating: Summary: Dean just keeps getting better and better!!! Review: It just seems that Dean Koontz keeps getting better and better with each book he writes. "Fear Nothing" is a wonderful story that keeps you in suspense non-stop and draws you into the world of Christopher Snow. I absolutely fell in love with Orson and his relationship with Chris. Koontz is an absolute master at drawing readers into "the dark side" of life. This book is so good that you don't want to put it down. This is truly an "awesome" read!! (Let's hope he comes out with another book SOON!)
Rating: Summary: Koontz's worst Review: This in my opinion, was Dean Koontz's worst book ever and I have read everyone of his novels. The characters were lame, the plot bad, and the endig was the worst. Koontz's needs to go back to his Phantoms and Lightning days, now those were great books. If this is gonna be the first Koontz book that you read, then don't.
Rating: Summary: The basic plot was good but very poorly developed Review: The story line had good potential but was never developed. The reader finds himself wading through obscure philosophical discussions that smack of filler in between significant happenings in the life of Mr. Snow. If all of the filler were removed this would actually be a short story. Mr Koontz must have cranked this book out in record short time. While he may be laughing all the was to the bank, anyone who purchased this book was taken. It is one of the poorest books I have read in a long time and definitely not worth reading. If an unkown had sent this book to a publisher it would have been rejected. Mr. Koontz appears to have run out of gas. I will waste no more time on him.
Rating: Summary: LISTEN TO YOUR FEARS... Review: If you want to enjoy this latest offering by Koontz, put down your text and get the unabridged recording... his first-person prose was meant to be heard, not read, and the mystery, and terror, and interior monologues, and even the animal conversations more than make sense... they resonate and intensify your own fears of the dark, harbored since you were very young... Kudos to Koontz and also to narrator Keith Szarabajka, for "becoming" Chris Snow. It may or may not be a good "read," but it is a fabulous "listen."
Rating: Summary: Exciting, humerous and imaginative Review: Dean Koontz weaves his usual magic spell over the reader in this riveting story of everyday people dealing with life (and weirdness) in the best way that they know how. I enjoyed the way in which he added substantial humour to a topic which is actually quite frightening to comtemplate. Being an animal lover I especially enjoy the fact that Dean Koontz projects his obvious love of animals into his stories and NEVER KILLS THEM (as is so often the case in other novels). Prepare to be entertained and make sure that you have a few hours to spare - you won't want to put it down!
Rating: Summary: Koontz once again proves hes the best storyteler of our time Review: A daunting tale of how far we have scientifically come to eclipsing God with a very plausible "the end of the world as we know it" plot. Koontz' totally submerses the reader into an intricate maze of dark revelation and the pros and cons between ignorance and scientific knowledge. It plucks the grapes of REAL life and turns it into a intoxicating lyrical wine.Well written and immensely enjoyable!!I look forward to seeing where koontz takes these characters in the future!Mesmerising!!
Rating: Summary: Loved the dog Loved the cat Review: Dean I am one of your biggest fans.. I loved the book so much I named my cat. you guessed it M.J.
