Rating: Summary: This is one hardback worthy of your personal library. Review: Mans arrogant/selfish/self-serving USE and ABUSE of others no matter for what reason is wrong!. This is a tale of the consequences. Yes, the surfer lingo occasionally gets irritating, but that's it! Outside of that Fear Nothing and Seize the Night (the continuation) are in my humble opinion, Koontz best story to date. Anyone who is a pet owner will be intrigued by Orson the dog, the cat, Mungojerrie and will surely feel for the poor monkeys. The main character having XP (xeroderma pigmentosum) adds an interesting/limiting twist. The 3 main characters are positive. No negative waves here. Just plain fun and exciting to read...everything a good SciFi/Fan/Horror book should be. I JUST LOVED IT. If you want to feel good than read this story.
Rating: Summary: IT WAS VERY GOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Review: IT WAS GREAT!!!!I LOVED IT IT WAS THE FIRST KOONTS BOOK I READ I LOVED IT!!!I DONT SEE HOW PEOPLE COULD HATE IT
Rating: Summary: The sequal is even better Review: This book in and of itself isnt the normal 5-star rating Koontz is used to but, when you combine it with its sequal "Seize the Night" you get a GREAT story. The charactures fit so well together and the flow from one book to the next is so seemless you have to have start on the next one right away. Is Koontz setting us up for more wonderful sequals in Moonlight Bay? I look forward to more adventures w/ Chris Snow and his closest friends. I keep Orson will stop by for a chat!
Rating: Summary: Disappointing Review: Most of Koontz's books I would read again. This is not one of them. There were a few scenes where Snow is being stalked by people and/or creatures that had my heart pounding. However, some of the narrative and conversations with the surfer friend were a bit contrived and rambling, and I found myself skipping ahead.
Rating: Summary: DON'T READ THIS BOOK IF YOU ARE AFRAID OF THE DARK Review: I read this book over a weekend and purchased the sequel before the weekend was out. This book and it's sequel worked my nerves and can't wait for the next book to come out.
Rating: Summary: KOONTZ SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF HIMSELF Review: Just a terrible book. If it wasn't Koontz, I don't think a first time author would even get this published. Don't get me wrong, I like Koontz, (Strangers is one of my favorite books), but this book can only be described by one word. BORING. - which is the worse possible adjective for a novel. I hope puts more effort into his next effort for his fan's sake. Sorry.
Rating: Summary: Not as good as other Koontz books...tends to ramble. Review: I've read about 12 Koontz books and I loved probably 10 of them. I think he's a phenomenal writer. Unfortunately, I found this book to be a quite a disappointment. The subject matter was very interesting (especially learning about lead character Chris Snow's genetic disorder) and the characters were solid and very likeable, but Koontz went way over the top in describing surroundings, feelings and the like. At times I found myself cursing him for being overly metaphorical, abusing analogies and simply making me read more than I needed to. Not everything must be described with a flowery simile/metaphor/analogy. Also, much like some of his other books, the ending is a bit of a let down. I understand that this is the beginning of a series, so the ending might not have had the traditional closure of a regular novel, but I hope Mr. Koontz, the outstanding author that he is, decides to trim the fat off his upcoming novels. He could definitely learn a thing or two from Robert B. Parker.
Rating: Summary: hands down the best book i've ever read ! Review: I've read all of Koontzs' books to date and he is the best .His characters are engaging, his plots intricate, and his imagination and writing style unchallenged by other contemporary authors. I especially like his animal characters. Mungo Jerry is too cool! Be sure to read the sequel.
Rating: Summary: WOW....A TOTAL WASTE OF TIME Review: Save your time and money. Worst Koontz book ive ever read, maybe even worst book period.
Rating: Summary: On of his best books Review: Koontz has done it again. It was the best. Most parts were thorough. The pages fly by. I couldn't put the book down. A must read. I was surprised how short it was however. It could have been much longer. IT'S NOT JUST ONE OF HIS BEST BOOKS, IT MAY BE ONE OF THE BEST BOOKS!!!!
