Summary: Seize Something Else by Koontz
Review: Severely disappointing. Shallow characters, moronic dialog, and tedious prose. Koontz is one of my favorite authors, and I've read most of his books and short stories. Some of the early work had one-dimensional characters and shallow plot, but if I listed his titles from best to worst, this would be near the bottom. For Koontz at his best, try Lightning, Watchers, Strangers, Intensity, Hideaway, or Dragon Tears.

Summary: A great follow up to Fear Nothing
Review: This sequel to "Fear Nothing" was well worth reading. I have not read much Koontz--I did not care for "The House of Thunder"--but I have read both Moonlight Bay books now. And they are great.

"Seize the Night" focuses less on Christopher Snow's condition (basically, he can't be in the sun because of a genetic condition called XP...which causes the cumulative effects of exposure to the sun to give him cancer and make him die) and more on his relationships with his friend Bobby and girlfriend Sasha. While searching for their friend's abducted son they investigate the mysterious things that once occurred (and may still be occuring) at the "abandoned" Fort Wyvern.

I really liked this book. However, one needs to read "Fear Nothing" first. "Fear Nothing" introduces the primary characters of this story. Also, the suspension of disbelief in the second book depends on the foundation of the story in the first book. Get this book (and the first if you don't have it already). You will enjoy it.

Summary: One of the best Koontz books, Rivaling even Watchers ! !
Review: My favorite Koontz books are Watchers and Lightning. But now Seize the Night (Carpe Noctem) destins to be among the best of his works. When I started to read this one I knew from the beginning it would be. Grabbing me from the very first page turn I was lost into the rythmic writing and scared to the point of hearing things going bump in my own home! One of the scariest parts for me was the last sentence in chapter three. Although scarry is the theme Koontz once again plays the comedian through his characters. "Monkey stalactites." nough said... Fear Nothing is like a primer for this book. I would advise you to read it first. You will be more involved in the second book if you do so, since this is a series. Show me where to sign up for the third book in this series ! ! ! I want to pre-order it NOW!

Summary: Koontz does it again
Review: Finishing "Fear Nothing" I thought I had heard the last of Snowman and felt disappointed as I had not read a book which grabbed my attention fron start to finish for quite a while.I started "Seize the night" cautiously wondering if a sequel could do the original justice.I need not have worried,I was captured from page one and had to force myself to put it down.I have read quite a few books by Dean R Koontz and have rarely been disappointed, I would recommend him to anyone who enjoys a good fright with a message.

Summary: Dean is slipping
Review: I've read Dean Koontz for years and always looked for his new book to come out. He is/was one of my favorites. But Seize the Night (for me) just didn't do it. I did not like the plot and it took forever for the author to get to the point. Dean, your slipping.

Summary: first dean koontz book but I was blown away
Review: I really really enjoyed this book. Some say the surfer lingo was a bit much but I think it wasnt that bad. I couldnt put this book down at all. I have recommended it to my family and my friends because I liked it a lot. It just kept you reading because you couldnt wait to find out what happens next. I am definitely pursuing other koontz books because of this one.

Summary: Quest for frightening truth
Review: Picking up where "Fear Nothing" left off, I found this book even more exciting than the first. Following Christopher and his close companions on their quest, was met with erie excitment and surprise. Each page and location met with more anticipation and hope for survivors. I highly recomend this book. It won't let you down. I hear there might be a third installment coming, I REALLY hope so. Go Dean!

Summary: Should be called "Sieze the Night....Dude"
Review: I love Dean Koontz, and really enjoyed "Fear Nothing", but the surfer characters in "Sieze the Night" became really tedious after a while. I think I reached my saturation point when one of them said "wow...that was a full-on Road Runner experience" or something like that. I guess it's a California thing. The plot also became tedious, and I found it difficult to care very much about what happened to the characters. Very disappointing book from one of my favorite authors.

Summary: Enjoyable - not as thrilling as Intensity
Review: Very worthwhile reading, thought not as thrilling as Intensity. A book that I feel good about recommending to my teenagers because it was written without the use of much obscenity - and kept a great amount of energy and suspense.

Summary: Awesome, Scary!
Review: As an employee for the Dept. of Defense, I personally travel to many west coast defense sites. This was WAY TOO REAL!

The proponents of the book--three friends and a geneticly engineered cat and dog--are a wonderful, loveable, team. There were enough antagonistic elements tormenting the group to keep them busy from the first page to the last.

One of Koont's best books, to be sure.
