Summary: More Christopher Snow!
Review: The last literary character I fell in love with was Anne Rice's L'Estat. Now, Christopher Snow has charmed his way into my heart. Though he's not a vampire, Chris, like L'Estat, can never step into the light of day.

This is Dean Koontz's second book featuring Christopher Snow ("Fear Nothing" was the first). Chris suffers from a genetic disorder that forces him to avoid all ultraviolet light. Here's a man who's never seen a sunny -- or any other -- day. Yet every one of his DNA-damaged cells is filled to the brim with love. Imagine the incongruity of a surfer who will never see sunlight.

Chris' unremitting self-honesty, humor, self-deprecating wit and spirituality can come only from one whose life has been turned upside-down by extreme circumstances beyond his control. According to medical wisdom, Chris should have died years ago. Death haunted him at the tender age of 9. But rather than run from his fears and demons, Chris stares them in the eye -- faces them head-on -- until they hold no mystery for him. His is not a blind optimism, but one that is the rational result of wisdom, thought-fullness and reason.

Christopher Snow may never spend a nanosecond in outer light. But he is imbued, body, mind and soul, with an inner light few of us will ever attain.

Almost forgot. The book is very good. But in this instance, for me, all else is secondary to the characters.

Summary: A Blast
Review: I think this series is some of the most entertaing stuff to come from Koontz in quite a while. I love the whole idea of crazed roving monkey gangs cruising around looking for somone to consume. The whole inter dimension traveling and big brained monkey is pretty cool to. check it out.

Summary: Awesome Book
Review: I totally loved this book. This has to be one of the best books I have ever read. I finished this book in one day because I simply could not put it down. However, before reading this book I seriously recommend that you read the first book about Snow called Fear Nothing so the whole story line makes more sense. I would really like for Koontz to write more books with Snow as the main character. Also, this book is a real thriller. It had my skin crawling for two days after I had finished it. If you love being scared this is the book for you.

Summary: Koontz Did It Again!
Review: Koontz never seizes to amaze me with his ability to come up with completely original plots and characters, and once again he's done it with Seize the Night. The was my introduction to Christopher Snow and what a first impression. I can't wait to go back and read the first novel with Christopher Snow, Fear Nothing, to see how it all started. Unlike other sequels you don't need to read the first one in order to understand what's happening in the next. The way Koontz describes what's going on in a scene lets you put yourself right into it. He has a way of making you feel like you ARE the main character. You feel his pain when he loses the people that he cares most about, and cry when they're reunited. I can't wait for another book in the Christopher Snow series. I am truely hooked. Seize the Night has taken over The Bad Place's #1 spot n my list.

Summary: Powerful, sharp, creative, and above all, bizarre!
Review: A shockingly strange novel yet it was made real by the artistic and imaginative writing of Dean Koontz. As in many of his books, the story starts slow in the first two chapters, but it gains speed as it progresses, and eventually becomes difficult to catch up with the action because you'll find yourself having to skip a few lines as a result of a build up of anticipation.

His characters, as usual, will capture your heart. Dean attributes uncommon traits to them, taking them almost to the extreme. The hero has XP, which limits him to living in darkness, and his best buddy, Bobby, is the coolest, most laid back, placid, and yet interesting character I have ever encountered in any novel. I didn't want the story to end because it was like parting with some very dear friends!

Dean likes to mess with your nerves. He sets you up to believe something weird or scary is about to happen, then half of the time breaks the suspense with sarcasm. His weapon in this novel is his hero's imagination, which he uses to manipulate your nerves. The dialogue is captivating - achingly funny in occasions where you need a laugh - and indeed so real.

This book deserves more than 5 stars. You don't have to be a science fiction fan to enjoy it for I certainly am not. Dean has the ability to scare the living daylight out of you and still keep you laughing. Honestly, I could keep on writing about all the wonders of this book, so do yourself a favor and read it. I sure hope there will be a sequel. Speaking of sequels, this novel is itself a sequel to 'Fear Nothing'. It may be worthwhile to read that one first.

Summary: Where is the next one???
Review: I thought this was another of Dean Koontz's best works. The characters are great and full of life. The story line had me glued until I finished the book. I would definately reccomend this book to any of my friends(which I do often).

Chris Snow is one of the best main characters in any book. It sounds like he is challenged by his dissorder, but it doesn't keep him from having fun. He and Booby's(His Good Friend)surfer lingo and Fresh look on life give the story flavor all the to the end.

So once again I Reccomend this book to anybody who likes a good story.

Summary: If this book sucked more, I could have vaccuummed my house
Review: Although I also missed the first of this series of books, starting here with the second, I have no desire to go back and read the first, nor will I knowingly buy the next. I spent longer wading thought the first 260 or so pages than the time elapsed within them. It has interesting details, some unexpected twists (but you're expecting them, after all, it's D. Koons), and very good dialogue - where there is dialogue. The plot seems to have been patched together hastily, and although many pieces come together at the end, the story as a whole seems to be like a patchwork quilt with a few pieces missing - overall it'll work, but if you examine it, you'll see how fragile it is. I was sorely disappointed, as I enjoy Koons' ability to create new stories with different plots & characters. His skills were not used to thier full potential in this book.

Summary: I was very disappointed
Review: I am normally a big fan of Koontz's books, but this one was not up to par with his usual output. This book (for die hard fans) breaks the Koontz rule "If there is a dog in it - it's gonna be a hit." He had some really good ideas - and the first of this series 'Fear Nothing' was a decent book.

This book, however, spends half of it's time re-hashing the first book. The reader finds himself saying 'Yes we all know this - it was in the first book! Get on with it already!' If you read the first book you will be annoyed to have him rehash everything that happened in the first book all over again for you. If you have not read the first book - you no longer have to. If you read this - you'll get both in one. (It goes back that much.)

The second problem - is that it just seemed like he didn't put much effort into writing this one. Just as one example (I could go on and on - but this will be the most obvious that you can all relate to:) He brings a cat more into the story. This is lovely for us cat fans until we all realize that Mr. Koontz either does not own a cat or has never paid any attention to one. The cat in this book doesn't have any catlike qualities at all. It's very obvious that Koontz is writing as one that thinks that cats act just like dogs. He even has the cat lift it's leg when it pees. (and if you have EVER seen a cat - of either sex - pee, they do not lift their legs. They aren't built for doing the two at the same time!) It makes us all wish he'd at least watched one documentary on cats before he tried to bring one into his story as a main character. Very disappointing. (After all these years of wanting a cat... this is what you give us! Do your homework Dean!)

This is just one example of his lack of effort to understand the subjects he's writing about. I could go on and on, but just trust me. It doesn't end with an impossible cat.

This won't stop me from buying more of Koontz's works. He's done a lot of good stuff. (and a few flops) I'd skip this book though if you like most of his works. I'd have been happier with just letting Snow stay where he was at the end of 'Fear Nothing'.

Summary: SEIZE THE NIGHT
Review: This book is written as the sequel to "Fear Nothing". Not knowing this of course, I read it first. I am glad that I did. By itself, it gave a good understanding of the characters and plot. If I had read the books in order I know that I would have been put to sleep by the similar discriptions of the people and places which exist in the mind of the main character (Chris Snow). It was an exciting, keep you on the edge of your seat book. Although some of scientific ideas could have been explained more in depth, I really enjoyed exploring the ideas which it offered. This second book is by far more complete and superior to the first in the series. I suggest reading the first only for a deeper understanding of the characters and events which led up to the final book
