Summary: The book screams "Koontz!", among other things...
Review: An improvement on "Fear Nothing", this book still falls short because of the endless detail stuffed into the first half of the book. There is one place where Chris Snow is hiding from monkeys in a Ft. Wyvern bungalow, and he describes what Jackie Chan would do in the same situation. At that point, I was thinking "I don't really give a care what Jackie Chan would do, just tell us what you're going to do!" Luckily, the action begins to take off shortly after that and detail becomes less distracting. Since this is better than "Fear Nothing", let's hope the final Christopher Snow book will be better than this... with a little less fat.

Summary: A Fear Nothing add-on...
Review: I wish that I had some foreknowledge that the Chris Snow novels were going to be a series. That is my only complaint. Koontz's plots still rumble and roll along like a stubborn pillbug that won't uncurl. His descriptions are still vivid and clear, and the Koontz apocalypic prose is still poignant. A good read, but Dark Rivers of the Heart is better.

Summary: A Little Too Wordy, but Good
Review: The second part of Dean Koontz's trilogy about Chris Snow, was wordy but good. I thought several sequences could have been edited down a bit without damaging the storyline. I didn't mind the surfer language (found it kinda funny actually) that goes on throughout the book. I look forward to the third book.

Summary: Not his best...
Review: Seize the Night was obviously written for a very young audience. The surfer lingo used throughout left me cold. I also found the unfolding plot so ridiculous that I kept wondering why I was reading the book. Well, how can you not read a new Koontz book. He's written so many outstanding stories that I was more tolerant than usual, and I did manage to complete the book. I never did quite understand the time travel and/or other dimension he introduced. Hopefully, the third installment of this trilogy will be better, and then maybe he'll get on to some more of his serious work.

Summary: Seize rhymes with deez
Review: As you can tell from the summary, I wasn't too pleezed. It felt like it went on for maybe 2000 pages, even those it wasn't 2000 pages. And no pictures! That made me very sore and angry. After this book, I find Dean Koontz to be very troublesome to me. Stay away!

Summary: Part 2 in a great continuing series--Bring on Part 3!
Review: This is actually the second book in a projected trilogy, but one of the neat things Mr. Koontz does here is that he writes it in such a way that it stands alone. Yet, if you've had the chance to read the first installment, _Fear Nothing_, this only enhances the experience further.

Chris Snow, the protagonist, is limited to a night-time existence by the presence of a gene for XP, a condition that makes exposure to sunlight potentially lethal. This hasn't limited him or his amazingly positive outlook on life any. He has a collection of friends that anyone would be proud to have.

In _Seize the Night_, we get a chance to explore more deeply into the abandoned army base at Fort Wyvern, wherein all manner of sinister, secret government projects were apparently underway, with some suggestion that they haven't all been abandoned. Wyvern is a great creation--an eerie place haunted by the genetically altered results of an experiment gone wrong.

The entire town of Moonlight Bay is a memorable setting for these stories--government men and their local toadies have clamped down on all attempts to get the story out to the world at large. Indeed, it sometimes seems like armageddon may have been loosed upon the world from the seemingly peaceful area.

The book is very highly recommended. If you have the chance, by all means read _Fear Nothing_ first, however.

Summary: No wonder Koontz is #1 in suspense!
Review: How do the best keep getting better? Dean Koontz keeps answering that question over and over with each new release. Seize the Night combines brilliant prose, description, and even humor in the darkest situations, blending together so delicately that only the master of suspense could pull this one off. Once again Dean Koontz has captivated me with Christopher Snow and his super-intelligent dog, Orson, as they explore the bowels of the ever sinister Fort Wyvern, proving the abandoned military base has not yet been fully "shut down." But when Snow's furry friend winds up missing in the midst of a search for a missing boy, Snow has to turn to the help of another ultra-smart pet. Definately a must read!

Summary: Spacy surfers battle creatures from another dimension.
Review: I like Dean Koontz's novels in general. Ignoring content, his writing style is one of the finest of contemporary authors. Most of his stories are quite good. This one falls short. In this story, he revisits Moonlight Bay. This time, a few locals battle monsters from another dimension(straight from H.P. Lovecraft's tales) let in by the evil government. The locals, however, are brain dead surfers so annoying, you begin to root for the forces of evil. The dialogue is so irritating that you cheer when the main "surfer dude" is killed, only to be disappointed when he is brought back to life. In conclusion, a better title for this book would be, "Surfer dudes versus monsters from another dimension". Of course, with a title like that, no one would have bought it, but that wouldn't be so bad. I can only hope that Mr. Koontz is ready to move on to another locale and new characters for his next book.

Summary: Would have enjoyed it better if the dog was the hero.
Review: The story of this adventure/mystery could have been a nail-biter if the hero wasn't so wordy (maybe because he's a poet). He had to explain every thought because of his ego. I just didn't feel the warmth in Chris. Great idea for TV series, because of Chris's XP. Bobby is cool, including other characters. "Watcher's" is the best Koontz has done.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Outstanding follow-up to Fear Nothing.
Review: Koontz has another EXTREME winner. The continuing adventure of Chris Snow and his friends (Orson included)does not lack for edge of your seat, creepy crawlers on your neck, action and adventure. Every time I read a Dean Koontz book I learn something new about things I never thought I'd care about (XP&DNA). Dean has created a character (or should I say characters) that you really care about and seem like someone you might know... DO NOT miss this read... way past 5 stars!
