Summary: His Best Book So Far
Review: I am an unabashed Dean Koontz fan; I believe I have read every book he has written, even the ones written under a pseudonym. I enjoyed them all, but Seize the Night comes out on top of the heap. Together with Fear Nothing, it speaks of the courage, love, friendship, and the experience of those who live their lives on the outside looking in. In his masterful way, Koontz draws you into the world of the different and unusual as no one else does. His portrayal of the dog, Orson, is especially touching. This book really rates six stars!

Summary: Worst I've Read
Review: I know that many of you may not want take the advice of a 13 year old, but trust me this is a book that is not worth getting. I love Dean Koontz, this one being the 5th novel of his I have read, but the worst. You don't get into the action of the story until you're about 80% done with the book. Before that, it's just description leading up to the main part of the story. However, It was saved from a 1 star rating because of its totally unpredictable plot. For those of you looking for a good author you've found the right one, but don't get this book. Titles from Koontz I highly suggest in order are "Twilight Eyes," "The Servants of the Twilight," "Watchers," and "The Bad Place," all of which deserve a 5 star rating

Summary: Not one of his best, but enjoyable
Review: I'm a true Koontz devotee, having read nearly everything he has written. He's definitely an up and down author and you always have to take your chances. I guess I'd put this one around the middle. Good story, but long winded and failing to successfully suspend disbelief as well as some of his better novels. Koontz is always wordy, but in his better books you're well into what's happening before halfway through the book and the pace thereafter tends to maintain itself. He doesn't have the way with words and turns of phrases that Stephen King does to hold interest very well during descriptive passages (but also doesn't get stuck in description for 900 pages the way King does).

He just belabours the point too much - far too much of the book on the relationships and on mental ramblings, which leads him to end up rushing the climactic portions of the book. I'm hoping the 3rd installment moves along better.

It doesn't match up to some of his really excellent books like Strangers (pretty wordy, but great premise), Lightning (starts out slow, but what a great idea), The Bad Place, or Watchers (being an animal lover, one of the best sci-fi novels I ever read, ranks right up there with King's The Dead Zone).

If you're a Koontz fan, you'll read it anyway. If you are not, read a few of the others I've mentioned first.

Review: I have been a fan of Dean Koontz's when he was still writing horror stories in the 80s. His books have progressively gotten away from the mundane type of horror and have broken new ground in the thriller/suspense fields. I found this one just as captivating as his others but not quite as "fantastic" as I would have liked. In any respect, if you are a fan of Koontz by all means buy and read the book!

Summary: Captivating
Review: This was the first Koontz novel I ever read and I could not put it down. The depiction of the characters and images seen through the eyes of Chris Snow was incredible. As the book neared the end I found myself wishing for it not to be over. I felt like I was right there going through the ordeal myself. Koontz pulled me in and has not let me go. I have read several other great books by him since, but none of them hooked me like Seize the Night.

Review: This is my 6th Koontz book and I think one of his best. Seize the Night held my attention all the way through. It does not take long for the action to take place and then Koontz has you hooked. His character's relationships are fully established without spending alot of pages on them. This is worth the read. It will make a great movie.

Review: I should have walked right past this chaos. I used to think Dean Koontz could deliver some masterful suspense and horror. Maybe he could, hopefully he can again, but this book was very disappointing. The plot could have been done so much better, the characters where nobodies, the action was mundane, and the surfer language was just to much.

Review: I thought this book was a good follow up to Fear Nothing. Although it was not Koontz's best. It left me hoping for a sequel to the sequel.

Review: I have been a fan of Dean Koontz for years, and I think that this is one of his best books yet. I love the characters and I have to support any book that features a dog and a cat in major roles. I love suspense and horror books, but this is the first time I actually gasped and started because of a surprising turn of events. I can't wait until the next book that features these characters and storyline!

Summary: Characters become caricature
Review: The second book offers almost no character development from the first book. The same old cliches and behaviors remain. If I read Chris comment on Bobby's shirts again I think I will puke. The first book kept the monster behind the door giving a creepy feeling to the book. The second is straight action-adventure with 2 dimensional Ken and Barbie characters. Not reccomended at all
