Rating: Summary: Starts slow, but gets great!! Review: No matter if you are a huge fan of Stephen King or not, this book gets everyone's attention. It isn't as gory as some of his previous books, but is just as interesting. The beginning seems to be somewhat slow and you might not be able to follow all of the information the author throws at you. As long as you stick with it, all the seemingly useless information becomes the shocking pieces of the puzle that make this novel so great. This novel allows a not-so-typical reasoning to the cause of death that makes you truly wonder if Stephen King is making this stuff up or not
Rating: Summary: A good read, though it is a bit slow. Review: INSOMNIA is a book well worth reading, but it doesn't compare to such classic horror as in THE STAND. King's character development is superb and creates an intimate bond between the reader and the characters. I personally liked reading about the hallucinations experienced by those who suffer from insomnia because they are very real. As I sat awake at night while everyone else was sleeping, I read INSOMNIA and found it to be well-written and thoroughly entertaining, like all of King's works
Rating: Summary: It's a pretty good book if you ask me!!!!!! Review: The story drags at first but then it gets interesting enough
to keep you reading later on. The character development is great,
you start to feel for them as the book progresses. I don't know
how anyone could give it a bad review.
Rating: Summary: This book drags you in and holds you there. Review: I love Stephen King's books. This book was one I did not think I would like until I started it. The booked grabbed a hold of me and I could hardly put it down the week it took me to read it. What I liked was the supernatural religious presence, heroes being real people, especially those on in years, and the reassuring view of death. The ending of the book was sad but not pointless. I knew deep down what would happen to Ralph but hoped it wouldn't. The ending pulled heart strings that made tears come to my eyes
Rating: Summary: That ending.... Review: Pretty good book, but the ending's not too clear...
What happened to Lois? And I agree with other reviewers that say that in this book characters are well developed... I felt as much home as when I read "The Eyes of the Dragon", my personal favorite. And I loved the supernatural element.
Rating: Summary: DRAGS ON LIKE A FREIGHT TRAIN. Review: I CAN'T SAY I HAD AS MUCH FUN WITH THIS BOOK AS I DID WITH IT. IT SEEMS AS THOUGH IT TRIES TO COPY A SOMEWHAT SIMILAR PREMISE, BUT IT IS JUST TOO BORING. READ ONLY IF YOU HAVE READ NO OTHER STEPHEN KING BOOKS. QUITE A DISAPPOINTMENT
Rating: Summary: Even those who are not King fans will love this story. Review: I found this story to be very different from much of King's
previous work in that it was more concise. He tells a wonderful tale of a lonely man and his final journey in life...not to mention the amazing things he discovers along the way.
Rating: Summary: King picks up a new style. Review: Insomnia is one of the greatest stories ever told by King. However, his usual shot in the arm approach to writing a story is swapped for the seemingly gradual progression that this book follows. His characters are almost _too_ real. You find yourself growing attached to the characters the way you wouldn't in most of his other books. A triumph for King
Rating: Summary: This novel was thoroughly disappointing. Review: I have never before read a Stephen King book that I didn't enjoy. This one, however, was a struggle to read and a big
disappointment. While usually I read one of King's novels in a few days, this one took me weeks to finish.
Rating: Summary: sign of a good author Review: I've been reading Stephen King's novels since "Salem's Lot" was first published, but like most readers, I've been disappointed with many of his books. I approved of "Insomnia" for a reason that would make most Stephen King fans shiver: fewer supernatural occurances (which make even small events seem earth-shaking, since in fact they should), and more character development. The characters had well-developed personalities, so much so that I could think of them as real people. I actually cared about imaginary figures, and believe me, it takes some serious writing to pull that one off! Based on this, I must recommend this book as a real page-turner and as an example of how books are made interesting. As long as "Insomnia" was to read, I was sad that it wasn't longer. Bravo, Mr. King. You've restored my faith that horror can be serious fiction
