Rating: Summary: Excellent information in most sections Review: I loved this book because of the information prsented in most sections. How to Choose a cat, bringing it home, caring for it, health care, breeding and showing a cat, and the cat's long and storied history. There are also lots of good pictures and information. I also liked the section on different breeds and learned about the different "markings" with various cats. I volunteer part-time for a "cat rescue group" and wanted to familiarize myself with some of the "breeds" and mixes we come across and I have learned some interesting things from this book. I grew up with a cat and now have a much better idea of what my mom dealt with with that cat!My one concern with this book is the section on the Bengal breed. I have not ever owned one, but after looking at several other reviews of this book, it would appear the author is misinformed about this breed. Hence my 3-star rating of this book. Great information here for the most part; you may want to read the section on different breeds with a cautious eye.

Rating: Summary: Mostly very informative Review: This book is informative especially the parts where the author talks about grooming, caring, and raising a cat in general. I felt that it was a very educational book. I would suggest this book to other cat-lovers and anyone who would like to own a "all-in-one" book on cats. It includes how to care for them, feline history, and a guide to breeds. If you are just looking for a guide to breeds, I would suggest another one. As you can see from other reviews, the Bengal breed section is inaccurate, but if you're looking for a book on how to care for cats and a most accurate guide to breeds, this is the one.
