Summary: A helpful resource for those of us working on older sets
Review: Monthly Price Guides are where you want to go if you are trying to keep up to date on what basketball cards have just hit the market or are following the rising fortunes of the sport's newest rookies and latest breakthrough stars. But if you are trying to put together the 1948 Bowman, 1961-62 Fleer, 1965-66 Kahn's, 1976-77 Topps, 1984 Star, 1992-93 Hoops or whatever is out there in the 21st century, then you need a resource that will tell you Ernie Calverly's card was #1 in the first basketball set from Bowman as well as each of the dozens of Kobe Bryant cards put out last year. Here is what you get in the "2001 Standard Catalog of Basketball Cards" by the numbers: 125,000 cards priced from over 900 sets from the top manufacturers from 1948 to present. This includes autographed and certified cards as well. Which ever set(s) you are trying to complete, this Price Guide will help you put together your want lists so you can go to shops, shows or on-line and find what you are looking for if cards are organized by numbers, names, teams or whatever. If you are collecting older cards, you need a book like this one.
