Summary: Not very good at anything it tries to do.
Review: We moved to Chicago seven months ago so I could attend school. We'd like to get married here in the city, but I don't know very much about it. I thought this book might be useful but it's really not.

The majority of the book consists of places to fill in various information, so it's designed as a little workbook. Each section (Getting Started; The Ceremony; The Reception; Attire; Services; Gifts, Parties, & Honeymoon) starts with some general advice that is not specific in any way to Chicago. As a notebook, this book will never do because there are no pockets for receipts and contracts, there isn't enough space to really write anything. It's too big to carry around in a purse. It's too fragile to take a year's worth of hardcore planning abuse.

The only Chicago-specific section is the "Resources" section in the back. Here the book lists some vendors, suppliers, services, and sites that you also might find in another local resource book that is delivered to your house for free every year: the phone book.

As a Chicago-specific wedding guide, this book fails. As an actual planner and organizer, this book fails. As a compendium for wedding advice, this book fails.
