Rating: Summary: Great Source of DIY Inspiration Review: Been looking at purchasing a new weight bench? Been pricing a hydraulic bearing press lately? Had your eye on a pair of those stilts used by carpenters to install drywall? Well, hold on to your pocketbook because this is the book for you. That is, if you have basic welding skills and access to a good welding machine."Welding Projects" is mostly a collection of diagrams and information for many different projects that the average welder-equipped handyman can build at home. The projects are grouped under such chapters as Sports Equipment, Gym Equipment, Shop Equipment, Auto Equipment, Home Equipment and Yard Equipment. A sampling of the included projects include a snowmobile dolly, two different ice boat designs, a frame-mounted receiver hitch for your truck, an engine stand, a lawn cart, a pumping-style windmill, a computer table, a baker's rack and even - get this! - a climbing deerstand. In all, there are nearly 70 different projects for the welder, and products that can be used by man, woman, and child. What "Welding Projects" is not is a step-by-step manual for assembly, though its diagrams and information are relatively easy to understand. What it does contain are measurements, relevant diagrams, materials and some very handy reference data at the beginning of the book. All in all, I highly recommend this book. After thumbing through it, you will find yourself longing to build things you don't even need just because you can.

Rating: Summary: OOPS! Correction To My Previous Review Review: In my previous review, I said there are two different iceboat designs. There is actually only one. Don't know how or why I said there were two. Sorry. Still a great book though, even if only one iceboat design. :)

Rating: Summary: A good project book for a high school welding class Review: Mr. Ruck is a metals and welding instructor in Twin Lakes, Wisconsin. His book contains 69 well-drawn plans for welding projects for sports equipment, gym equipment, shop equipment, auto shop accessories, home items, and yard equipment. The projects grew out of needs his students have for life in a rural area of Wisconsin. They reflect the interests of high school boys in that setting (snow shoes, an ice boat, a deer hunter's tree stand, engine hoist and an engine stand, weight lifting and exercise benches, lawn and shop carts). There is very little written text. The information on the drawings is very complete, including a materials list for each. (96 pages)
