Rating: Summary: Inspired to actually stitch up one of these beautiful design Review: For those of you who want to stitch up these wonderful designs, you should be aware that the yarn used is from a UK company called Paterna. They also sell tapestry wool in the US under the name Paternayan. All of the numbers that do not start with a D are accurate, however the numbers that start with a D are only available from the UK version of the company. You will need to either substitute for them or order the yarn directly from the UK.By the way, if you have any problems, Jill Gordon is wonderful about answering e-mails. She seems to be a very nice woman...

Rating: Summary: Beautiful design but disappointing Review: I have purchased many needlepoint books and used most of them with wonderful results. I found Ms. Gordon's designs some of the most innovative and colourful. Unfortunately it is impossible to use them unless one has an endless supply of wools readily available as the author neglected to give us the amounts. The charts are also very difficult to read. I think that this book could have used a more careful editing in order to make it useable. That said, I will continue to purchase Ms. Gordon's future endeavours, if only to ooh and aah at her fabulous designs.
Rating: Summary: Truly Inspiring Review: Jill Gordons apprenticeship with Fassett was time well served, this is a stunning book. I have owned it since its publication date and referred to it constantly both as inspiration and admiration. I cannot rate it too highly, and recommend it to any creative soul, and especially to fibre artists seeking to further develop their skills in colour, composition and balance. This is not a how to book, nor is it for those who wish to slavishly copy others designs. But for those who value beautiful needlepoint, this is a must have addition to the library.
Rating: Summary: Truly Inspiring Review: this is a wonderful book for semi experienced needleworkers because it focuses on the process of design. Sources of inspiration are explored and readers are encouraged to create their own work. The graphs that are inluded are reasonably clear and easy to follow. It will certainly convert you to random long stich, the Hollyhock screen is gorgeous!
Rating: Summary: WARNING!!! BEFORE YOU BUY PLEASE TAKE NOTE!! Review: This is the EXACT same book as the book "Jill Gordon's Needlepoint - Glorious Tapestry Designs". And I mean EXACT. They do have different covers and different publishers but the insides are identical so if you already have the one you don't need this other. Having said that, the contents are beautiful and the writings from the author are wonderful to read. A book chock full of inspiration!
