Review: A wonderful book. So unlike all the other mushy or cynical books I've seen about marriage. Between the great shots and the little stories behind them, I can think of no better gift for a bride- (or groom-) to-be. The only problem is I'm tempted to pull some of the fabulous photos out and put them up.

Summary: Insightful, intimate and truthful
Review: Audrey Vernick captures a singular moment in time and distills its emotional truth by letting each participant communicate his/her own story. The beauty in Vernick's photojournalism is the wealth of information conveyed in the interplay between the image and the word. Each vignette is compact, yet offers multiple layers of observation and meaning; I hear the subject's voice in the text, but also see the subject's body language and the context of the moment in powerful photographs. I found myself reading the story of one half of a couple and searching out the story from the other half, comparing the differences (and similarities) in their perspectives and focus. This book is a pleasure to read and re-read.

Review: I didn't just read this beautiful work by Audrey Shehyn Vernick; I absorbed it. The images and ideas contained in this lovely and inspiring volume stick in the mind and the advice within the pages will certainly be useful to me in my own life. I plan to recommend this book to friends, and certainly recommend it to all amazon shoppers!

Review: On pp 130-132, I can see myself in Audrey's superbly timed photograph, as well as read my own prattle. It was initially an ego-trip to be published, to see my marriage documented in such a refined way. But, the truth of this collection is that it has integrity. Audrey wanted to elucidate something common between disparate couples (some of whom had married multiple times, and some who are divorced now). I think she succeeded beautifully. Her nuanced pictures are wonderful, but accompany even more illuminating discussions from a great wide swath of our culture.

Review: This book is filled with diverse images of weddings, beautifully shot by Audrey Vernick. Most photographs are accompanied by the subjects' thoughts on what marriage means to them, as interviewed by Ms. Vernick. Both the photographs and the interviews are truthful, moving, and very human. It's a joy to look at and to read.
I recommend this book highly not only for someone as an engagement, wedding or anniversary present, but for anyone who loves candid photography or enjoys having a glimpse into other people's motivations in life.

Review: This is NOT a wedding album... newlyweds will have their own. But they will love sharing the stories of other couples and comparing those to their own. The photographs are lovely, real, touching... Why give a plate when you can give yet more memories to share?

Review: Unvailed is a terrific book. The images are candid and revealing. The photographer has the ability to capture people during natural moments. Each moment freezes a lasting feeling in the form of a photograph. The writing nicely complements the pictures. This book is a perfect gift for anyone getting married or just interested in marriage. The pictures, taken together, make a revealing story about the institution of marriage and the ceremonies that surround it.
