Rating: Summary: Great Historical Addition To Any Outdoorsman's Collection Review: I purchased Mr. Thiel's book some time ago (December 1994), but have very fond memories of the frequent times that I have read its pages. The content of the book weaves masterfully through historical context coupled with an easy to read style of story-telling narrative. Mr. Thiel's research on the timber wolf in America's Dairyland is impeccable. The manuscript guides the reader from the wolves beginnings in the State and subsequent extinction, to the modern day re-introduction of "canis lupus" to the Northwoods. Having lived in Wisconsin for a portion of my lifetime (and anxious to return!), this was a must read. However, it is not only a book for Wisconsinites, but a well spun chronicle for all ages, and folks from every State in the Union who take an interest in the majestic wolf!
