Summary: wonderful!
Review: i was a bit skeptical when i saw the brightly-colored cover at my local department store. but i figured, what the heck - it's on sale!

and i was not disappointed. i'm a novice in every sense of the word - i've only started taking an interest in gardening. while the internet is a wonderful resource, sometimes i like having everything in one book. this is where basic gardening comes in: it has over 150 flowers listed (by name AND by color!) and their characteristics.

my favorite part, however, is the "how-to" part. for example, i learned to get rid of little flies by spraying my miniature roses with diluted dishwashing liquid. there's advice galore in this book and it's well-done. it doesn't talk down to you, but rather treats you like an equal.

the beautiful photographs in this book are worth the price alone. i recommend it highly to everyone who's starting out, and even to those who might be a bit more advanced. there's something for everytone!
