Rating: Summary: A book full of gorgeous pictures. Review: I highly recommend this book for anyone interested in vintage purses. In addition to page after page of excellent photographs, there is a great deal of historical information about the factories that made them.
Rating: Summary: Can't wait for her next book, PURSE MASTERPIECES!! Review: I just found out Schwartz has another book on vintage purses coming out this fall, Purse Masterpieces. I am delighted that her third book will be about a subject seldom covered in such depth: vintage purses. I have searched everywhere for books on vintage purses. Schwartz's Vintage Purses at Their Best book not only shows hundreds of purses in color but also offers a sneak peek at the production of purses.
Rating: Summary: A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words Review: If a picture is worth a thousand words, then this gem of a book is a superlative example. Brimming with exquisitely beautiful photographs, each and every page is a feast for the eyes. Ms. Schwartz's inclusion of the painstaking process that goes into the creation of these delicate feminine accoutrements provides the reader with an astounding appreciation for how difficult the craft for such a practical accessory actually was. A "Must Have" for amateurs as well as serious collectors!I have already ordered my copy of her latest book (at press now), "Purse Masterpieces," which promises, not only gorgeous photographs, but a thoroughly investigated background for the inspirations (Art, Literature, Architecture, etc.) behind the pictured scenes.

Rating: Summary: Not quite what I wanted. Review: The book is absolutely beautiful, however, I would like to have read more history on the individual bags. All In all, very well done.
Rating: Summary: Can't wait for her next book, PURSE MASTERPIECES!! Review: This book shows fabulous examples of hard to find and rare purses taken from private collectors from all over. This book is the only one that gives previously undisclosed information regarding the background of the making of a purse, including rarely found information about the manufacturers. A MUST SEE, a must read!
Rating: Summary: Proof-read next time, please Review: True, the photographs in this book are great, and the collections of beaded, mesh, etc, purses that are shown are exquisite examples, however the text reads like a first draft. Grammatical ambiguities and lack of correct punctuation frequently render the author's sentences unintelligible. Additionally, I had hoped for information that would enable me to learn about purses, but descriptions that accompanied photographs were merely descriptive i.e., colour and dimensions of purse, rather than era, manufacturer, country of origin.
