Review: We are going to get our first puppy over the next two weeks and right now I am reading everything I can find about the breed. I am a first time dog owner and I did not even know what a slicker brush was! So, the book could've had more pictures, especially in the areas of grooming and training.

Review: What a terrific book! It's the seventh guide to raising/training golden retrievers I've read, and I've learned more from it than from the other six combined. Helpful, useful, practical approaches and solutions on every single page. And what a fun, easy read -- I found myself sneaking "just one more page" after my allotted reading time was up. I'm about to read it a second time -- this time taking some notes about things I'll want to do daily/weekly when I get my golden pup. I'm also eager to read other works of this author. Her loving, respectful, practical approach to life with golden retrievers sets a wonderful model for anyone who wants to bring this terrific breed into his or her home. Don't miss this excellent book.
