Rating: Summary: One of the BEST Dog Training Books available. SIX STARS! Review: As a consulting editor, I read just about every dog training book published. Train Your Dog The Lazy Way by Andrea Arden is simply one of the very best. This is the book you want to buy. Your dog will thank you for it.
Rating: Summary: Great Info and Great Fun!! Review: I was first attracted to this book because I had seen the author on TV and the cover and layout looked attractive. I'm glad I judged this book by it's cover, it is terrific! The advice is simple and very easy to follow. I've noticed that a lot of the training methods in dog books are becoming more upbeat and fun and this book certainly leads the pack!
Rating: Summary: One of the best dog training books to come along. Review: perhaps the best thing to say about this book is that it makes training your dog so simple and relaxing a proposition to those who would otherwise not be inclined to take on this otherwise daunting task.but now, thanks to ms. arden, there is no excuse for a poorly trained dog.
Rating: Summary: jut another gimmick Review: the book didn't teach me anymore then i already new for years on end anyway. i always wonder why is it always little dogs or puppies ? what about the big dogs?? it makes you wonder if these methods only work on small dogs.
Rating: Summary: jut another gimmick Review: This author seemed to be a bit "lazy" herself when writing this book in that I found it to be very short on details. For example, we all want to keep our dogs from jumping up on people. The author provides a good explanation of why punishment techniques might be ineffective. However, the author implies that when my pup gets excited when greeting people, I should find rewards like a toy, ball, or kibble or even human attention to teach her proper greetings. There is no real detail provided, however, on how to go about using the treats. The practical application of the author's techniques, in the jumping up situation for example, is difficult and the book does very little to help here. I also find it burdensome to ask my friends to come over to my house, give them a handful of kibbles and ask them to help train my dog. It might be helpful, but in this fast-paced age, it isn't too practical. Just seems like a lot to ask. I am also trying to train my dog to obey my commands always, to make sure I can count on her to respond in dangerous situations. I am not convinced that this technique will deliver in that regard. I am not a trainer or pro. Just a regular guy who tried to apply these techniques and found myself needing more.
Rating: Summary: A delightful book for all caring dog owners. Review: Utterly enjoyable! How refreshing to read a DOG-FRIENDLY dog training book. Your dog will love you if you read this one. Overflowing with numerous easy-to-use, effective techniques, which are ingenious and just plain downright, unadulterated fun. Anyone who dislikes this book should consider living with a pet rock, or a cabbage, instead of their dog. Seriously, this is one of the best and most useful dog training books on the market. Save your pennies; buy this book and... ENJOY!
