Summary: The Complete English Cocker Spaniel
Review: This book represents a good background on the whys and wherefores of showing English Cockers, especially from the point of view of an outsider. With no real knowledge of showing dogs (as ours is a rescued pet), it prooves very interesting reading.

The book is very much North American in content with nearly 100 pages dedicated to both early and modern breeders in the US and Canada. This is not a shortcoming for an Australian reader as it generally makes for interesting reading.

Photography is all black and white, and includes detailed grooming images and a collection of historical images as well as many suberb photos of various dogs. The pups in chapter 7 "Breeding the English Cocker" are a real treat.

All in all, worth the purchase for someone who considers an English Cocker more than just another dog

Review: This is a great book. If you are new to this breed it is very helpful. The begining of this book goes into the history of the breed. It then analsises the Standard of this breed. The author uses drawings to help us to understand the Standard. That is very helpful! The Chapter on grooming is fantastic! Bonnie Threfall provided the demonstration pictures. I learned a lot from this. The pictures were very helpful. It then goes on to talk about showing and breeding these beautiful dogs. The section I learned a lot from was Early Breeders and Breeders of Today and Tomorrow. I couldn't believe how many people I actually know or have met are in this book! It was and eye opener! I would recommend this book to anyone new to this breed! It's a must!
