Rating: Summary: Decorating Inspiration Review: I've truly enjoyed owning and using this book and pull it out of my bookcase frequently for ideas and inspiration. It's long on pictures and short on writing but that's okay. Almost every other page contains a full page, expertly photographed, picture of a room, close-up portion of a room or setting that enables readers to see the details. This makes it all the easier to adapt the wealth of ideas in one's own home. My decorating is done on a very tight budget so I'm always looking for examples that depend more on creativity than expensive furnishings and this book fits my needs very well. The different sections cover each room of the house, with additional chapters on outdoor settings like porches and gardens and, my favorite, Christmas and collectibles. While the photos are the main elements, the narration is both concise and useful. Each two-page spread of photographs contains a paragraph that describes a different element of the country style, helping the reader to see why those particular photo examples were grouped together. In addition, every photograph is accompanied by a sentence or two that directs readers to the details of the example. "The Comforts of Country" also includes a one page index at the end, which I always appreciate in almost any non-fiction book. Not only is this book beautiful to read but it's also useful and the index makes it even more useable.
