Rating: 5 stars
Summary: The only book of its kind, typology taking up post Oakeshott
Review: Norman sets the standards for classifying every rapier and shortsword hilt and component (guards, inner guards, pommels and the like) sufficiently to allow any student of the sword of the period covered to identify and date any blade one is likely to come across. The book is also essential for re-creators and swordsmiths looking to turn out accurate period pieces and use them in a proper manner of combat. It SHOULD be returned to print immediately

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Simply the best classifier for Rapier and Small Sword
Review: This book is essential for anyone interested in Rapier and Small Sword. It is a detailed typology of this beautiful weapon and is the best classifier of pommel forms, hilts and blades. It makes anything like "The Sword in the Age of Chivalry" by Oakeshott, completely laughable.
