Rating: Summary: CARDS AND QUILTS Review: Art quilting, a rather new form of expression in the art world, is vividly introduced in this generously illustrated and well written volume. By using the universally recognized theme of a deck of cards, the viewer's eye is more easily drawn to the quilt as a work of art rather than the familiar warm cover. Featuring designs by 54 different artists, the book begins with the traditional quilting method of stitching layers of fabrics together, and branches out into various interpretations and styles. Each featured artist is profiled and the easy to follow techniques will make all of us want to pick up fabric, needle, and thread. - Gail Cooke
