Summary: The Healthy Bird Cookbook
Review: Excellent book. It's about time a book like this was available. The minute I opened it I made several of the recipes for my birds. They loved all the ones I made. Even my pickiest eater loved them. I thought that the information on nutrition was very well written. The recipes are easy to make with clear instructions. Many of the recipes have photos so you know what they should look like. I highly recommend this book for anyone who owns a bird who cares about their health and whether or not they are eating right.

Summary: A general introduction to the nutritional needs of pet birds
Review: The Healthy Bird Cookbook: A Lifesaving Nutritional Guide And Recipe Collection by experienced bird trainer and author Robin Deutsch is a unique and unusual pet ownership reference guide. It is a general introduction to the nutritional needs of pet birds, including notes on how to feed them from weaning onward, offering an assortment of healthy recipes to supplement a bird's diet along with standard seeds (which are largely "empty calories" junk food for birds) and pellets (which are not guaranteed to provide all the vitamins and minerals a bird needs by themselves, especially since pellet-making processes can destroy nutrients). Of particular value to all bird owners is the warning section of toxic foods that must never, ever be given to one's pet bird, such as chocolate, a deadly poison to many animals, or fruit pits and the flesh of fruit that is in contact with the pit. Even cooking with non-stick utensils must never be done in a household with birds, as non-stick kitchenware emits colorless, odorless fumes that can be lethal. A pioneering guide highly recommended especially for owners and caretakers of pet birds from common budgies to exotic amazonian beauties.

Summary: Excellent Book !!
Review: We are five parrots known as the Feathered Zoo. Four of us prefer veggies and one of us prefers fruit. After awhile though, we would get tired of eating the same thing. We would just pick at it or in our big brothers case, it would become a flying menu when he'd throw it out of his dish onto the floor.

The recipes in this book however, have gotten us to eat again by giving us more variety and textures. Mom says the recipes are simple and easy. She didn't really change our diet, she just added to it and learned to present our favorite foods in new ways.

We here at the Feathered Zoo are not only eating more but we are eating more healthy. Even the big guy doesn't throw his food like before which is good because we were getting tired of being hit it the head with flying broccoli and mango.

Thanks for such a wonderful book -- The Feathered Zoo -- SD Rentzel's Sweeties Telula, SD Rentzel's Chief White Eagle, SD Rentzel's Wolfgang's Lady Mozart, SD Rentzel's KSA's Wayward Angel and SD Rentzel's Rio Sambu's Lakes Evening Prelude.
