Rating: Summary: Anyone need a good book? This is it! Review: For a new or a repeat Yorkie owner this book is a must-have on the bookshelf. It explains the basics as well as some nuances of the breed for longtime owners. I have already recommended to this book to several friends who are thinking of getting a Yorkie.
Rating: Summary: A lot of health information. Review: I found this book to be helpful. I am not yet a Yorkie owner but a Yorkie owner in training. This book has a great deal of health-related information about Yorkies, including the standards tips for raising a puppy vs. an adult dog. It was very similar to The Complete Idiot's Guide to Yorkshire Terriers, by Liz Palika, which I liked better for the information regarding potty training and obedience training.

Rating: Summary: Clear advice for new Yorkie owners Review: I've been researching purchasing a Yorkie puppy (as a pet and companion not to show or breed) and this is the best of the books on caring for the breed that I've read thus far. I started with Janet Jackson's book and the Complete Idiot's Guide to Yorkshire Terriers by Liz Palika. Both are very good, but I found Gewirtz's book to be more thorough for my needs. It doesn't just stress the importance of socialization or obedience training, but tells you the right age to begin these processes. Also, the information is presented in a clear, well-organized fashion. It's simply easier to find the information you need. Obviously, you shouldn't just buy one book on the breed or raising your dog, but this should definitely be on your list.
Rating: Summary: Most helpful book Review: If you are looking for one book on this toy breed this is probably it. It covers all aspects of the Yorkie - Elaine didn't leave anything out! I've had several Yorkies and was looking for another when I found this book. Wish I had seen this book 20 years ago!
Rating: Summary: snobby Review: In few words, if you have a Yorkie... buy it!!
Rating: Summary: Still nice to read Review: Our family just bought a Yorkie and our breeder recommended that we buy this book because it tells everything about the breed in a way that's easy to understand. I'm so glad we did. It helped us from the first day we brought our dog home and is actually getting a little 'dog-eared' now only 8 months later from all the times we pick it up to look something up.
Rating: Summary: A Really Informative Read Review: This is an excellent book for any prospective Yorkie owner. It covers all aspects of owning a pet from birth to death and in between, including feeding, treats and grooming. There are helpful hints and little bits of trivia. I highly recommend this book for anyone wanting to own or presently owning a Yorkshire Terrier. You will not regret the purchase.
Rating: Summary: Greatest book! Review: This is one of the most comprehensible books on Yorkies that I've seen. Elaine explains grooming and nutrition in a simple but very informative style. I especially liked the part about housetraining and history.
