Rating: Summary: You need to flip through this book if you have a puppy Review: A friend on mine gave me this book, she currently has 6 dogs and havs used this book to train all of them. I really enjoyed the book. It was an easy read with very easy to understand methods, funny little comics, and it got right to the point. Grant it my Pup is only 11 weeks old and I'm still having some trouble with a few things with her, but not much. I suggest you give this book a whirl especially if you have read other books and feel they haven't helped much.

Rating: Summary: Great Entry into Dog Training Review: Best part is the simple approach with its cartoon art which illustrates comically the training point under discussion.Parents with children would do well to get and use this book. Later on, however, probably like to move on to other, more detailed helps.
Rating: Summary: The only book a pet owner needs!! Review: i have worked with dogs -- from pet poodles to belgian malinois patrol dogs -- and this book applies to all of them. i think the most important thing owners learn is that obiedience is not a cure-all, but a beginning for the owner to learn how to teach their campanion good manners. it is a loving book that serves the pet first and foremost in dispelling myths the owner might hold near and dear.
Rating: Summary: Great training book for adults as well as kids Review: This book covers all the basics and explains how the dog views the trainer's actions. The chapters are short and concise with a summary at the end of each recapping the essentials. Throughout the chapters are humorous pictures that really get the point across. My 7 year old daughter read this and found it helpful and funny as well. A great book to read BEFORE getting the puppy so you can be prepared. It is very straightforward and easy to understand.
Rating: Summary: Great training book for adults as well as kids Review: This book has been adopted as the manual for many obedience classes. I've been teaching dog obedience for years, and this book is my most useful tool. It expains most aspects of owning a dog, in easy to understand terms. I recommend it highly, and give it to all of my clients. The pictures are GREAT and very funny.
Rating: Summary: Great for pet owners to understand the way dogs think! Review: This book has been selected by the Hamilton Dog Training Club (Hamilton, Ohio, USA) for use in its puppy and beginner classes. As a veterinary technician, I find this text useful in explaining to owners why dogs behave the way they do and the best way for the owner to interact with their pets. Janet Lazarus, RVT
Rating: Summary: A must for new puppy owners! Review: This is a good, basic book about dog training. Some of the insite into why dogs do what they do and what they are really thinking is great information to have. But, if you are serious about dog training it will take more than just this one book to give you all the base knowlege you need. I would recommend this book to anyone interested in dogs though. The information it has is accurate and useful and the illustrations are fun and educational. I agree with the person who said it would be a great dog training book for younger children to start with. The illustrations make this book very understandable for everyone. Add it to your collection for the pictures and basic information, but do keep reading because there are more comprehensive dog training manuals out there.

Rating: Summary: Wonderful! Review: This is one book that every dog owner, or potential dog owner, should buy! It doesn't matter if you have a Rottweiler, a Chihuahua, or just a good old Heinz 57 dog, this book is for all dogs. Cute illustrations and sound advice on how to make your dog the good doggie citizen of the year abound in this book. It addresses common issues like housebreaking, walking on a leash nicely, crate training, and much more. I highly recommend this book!
