Rating: Summary: First rate quilt block book!!! Review: I have just started quilting this year. I love traditional blocks but the blocks I find in my favorite books are usually the wrong size from what I want. I checked out a book from my library on "drafting" my own blocks but I just can't do it. Well, I just got this book from my library and I will own it shortly because this is one of the best quilt block books I have ever seen and I can have the blocks any size I want without the mind boggling drafting. I will own the next book and the next book and the next book..... this Judy Hopkins puts out. I could not ask for more. I am a very happy quilter!!! :)

Rating: Summary: Excellent Pattern Source Review: I love this book, and have quickly found myself unable to live without it. It breaks the patterns down into very easy to understand lists of rotary-cut pieces. It's easy to multiply the number of shapes in the base pattern to reach the total numbers needed for the entire quilt.
Rating: Summary: A "must have" for any quilting library! Review: The most wonderful thing about this book is that it offers instructions to do the many blocks in several different sizes. No math involved! Lots of variety and good photos. Definately a must for piece lovers.!
Rating: Summary: Gotta Have It Review: This is not a technique book nor is it a typical pattern book, it is a recipe book, all the ingredients are given and you are assumed to have the skills. This is a book I would recommend to anyone who has at least one year of quilting under their belt. Sure a beginner can handle it but it isn't geared to the fresh start. One of the great advantages the book offers is a color representation of the pattern and then in the recipe area you see the block in gray scale. To view a block without color gives you the freedom to choose if you want to work in monochromatic or several colors, your minds eye isn't limited to a picture provided by the author. There is so much to be learned letting your own natural choices free to assign the colors. My friendship quilting group uses this book as well as the follow up book "Around the Block Again" as a primer for selecting different swap-a-block patterns, or for charity blocks. It is ideal where each member can choose their favorite pattern in a block size that others can use as well. Buy this book and you will have YEARS of joy from all the possibilities.
