Summary: If you love dogs...
Review: ...read Amazing Gracie. The book is a quick read, and is by turns funny, entertaining, and philosophical. Reading about Grace Dane's introduction to the author's family was enjoyable, and learning how Gracie helped him find his life's passion gave some depth to the story (as did the 13 pages of photos in "Gracie's Album"). However, it was the last chapter of the book that brought home its main point: how deeply and wonderfully this Great Dane's life affected those of the people (and dogs) around her. Cynic that I am, I must admit that I cried toward the end of Grace's story... The last chapter is bittersweet, but nevertheless Amazing Gracie demonstrates how--and why--our pets improve our quality of life.

Review: From the very first page it is a wonderful read, especially if you are a dog lover. The stories about Gracie are heartwarming and funny, I couldn't put the book down. I would recommend this book to people of all ages.

Summary: "Amazing Gracie" is AMAZING...
Review: I am in the process of adopting a great dane puppy, although not deaf, albino, or all white, due to come home to us at the end of February (2004). I always liked the name Gracie, even before reading this book, because these dane babies are so foal-like in their growing up stage and quite clumsy, hence the name, Grace. "Watch it, Grace," would surely become a normal quotation in my household...then I saw this book listed on Amazon, and ordered it immediately. I could not put this book down. Dan Dye tells this story in such animation that you can actually visualize every sentence that he writes and I can envision myself in his home and in all the scenes that happen. If forever reason, Three Dog Bakery takes a nose dive, Dan should be a full time writer, as he brings his stories to life on paper. Very few writers can capture the feeling for the reader to be in the scene themselves, and I laughed at every page, and could NOT PUT THIS ONE DOWN! The very last sentence made me cry, because you could feel the attachment and the love for this dog that was not found by the breeder, and should awaken every animal breeder that not all mistakes are actually MISTAKES. There is a wonderful, loving animal behind every disability, and if you take the time to understand the 'abilities' of these animals and not their disabilites, they would never be considered 'discards'. (It doesn't hurt to know, I have two children with disabilities, and if we parents treated our kids with the same "throw away mentality" the way breeders treat their non-moneymakers, there would little compassion and acceptance left in the world) . God Bless Dan Dye for showing the world there is a place for every animal, and that they each have many lessons to offer and teach us, if given the chance. This book is meant for everyone who has a heart and even for those who need to remember that they had one at one time, but have lost it. Our Gracie, or Baby G, is coming home in two weeks, and I may be writing my own story, too. Thank you for offering us such a wonderful book.

Summary: A book anyone with a soft spot for animals must read!!
Review: This book "found me" about two weeks ago. As I browsed around looking for a new book, there was little Gracie looking at me on the cover. Of course, as an absolute animal lover, I had to pick it up and find out more. I read the back cover and was sold - I knew I must read it.This story will make you laugh and cry all at the same time. Dan and Mark (the authors) write in an easy to read style about their lives and how this amazing little puppy completely turned it around. I implore you to read this book. It opens your heart and your mind to life and love and respect for our four-legged friends. I was sorry when I finished but so glad to learn about Gracie.

Summary: Deliciously wonderful!
Review: This book was so hilarious! It is well written and witty. Very difficult to put down. [Unfortunately when I did put it down, the dogs picked it up!] Even though the last few pages were read through teeth marks, this was definitely a worthwhile library book to replace. I can't wait to read Mr. Dan Dye's next book! He has a real knack for writing and phrasing his mishaps. If you have a deaf dog (or any dog) you will readily relate to his daily adventures and love for his dog Gracie.

Summary: A Truley "Amazing" Book
Review: This is an early Christmas present that I could not wait to read. This is humorous and tender; positvely a masterpiece in describing unconditional love of a dog for her owner. There are so many hysterical adventures recounted from the time Gracie entered Dan's life. As always, we learn so much from these angels and Gracie was such a wonderful teacher! I, also, loved the dedication in the front of the book! I will purchase another copy, because mine is already highlighted and marked up! I am going to purchase, also, for a loved one. Thank you, Dan so much for your dedication and humor. Most of all, thank you, Gracie.

Summary: So many emotions so little time
Review: This is the best book I've read since James Herriot's books. The writing style is superb! The book has such heart. It will make you laugh and cry. I bought two. The other will be a gift for a loved one. I will keep mine as a reference book to return to when I need to remember how to write about love, trust, and hope. I don't ever want to forget the unselfish adoration between the people and animals in this lovely book.

Summary: "Amazing Gracie" is and amazing book!
Review: What an amazing book! I read my mom's copy on Christmas Day in a room full of relatives that wondered why I kept snickering to myself, and then looked on as tears flowed through the last couple of chapters. This is such a heartwarming and inspiring story, especially if you've ever shared your life with an animal friend (or multiple friends, in my case). I bought my own copy as soon as I finished reading it, and will definitely give the "gift of Gracie" to my friends and family in the future. My own dogs are getting extra special love and attention these days, too!
