Summary: Solid Principles; Practical Advice
Review: This is a book that I will actually keep, not flip through for ideas and get rid of. Whether you're looking to make over your home or you're starting over in a new home, this is a great book! Being a former interior design student, I have to say her design prinicples are solid, and her advice is practical. After living in apartments for years, I recently purchased a new home. Using what I already knew and much of the info from Lauri's book, I was able to put together an entire house with under $500, and half of that was wall paint and related supplies. Not bad for someone who doesn't have an HGTV show's budget behind them! The only thing I would have preferred is for the book to have color pictures (instead of black & white) because the colors used in a room are every bit a part of the design as the furniture placement.
