Review: Dating from the nineteenth century, this book is a collection of handcoloured, engraving illustrations. Often times, costume history books stay within the boundaries of the European culture, failing the reader who may want to see what the Mongoloids wore while Josephine pranced around France in her empire gown. This book, unabashedly illustrates without bias, different cultures that existed around the world at the time. Indeed, a very beautiful and invaluable source of research.
