Rating: Summary: Basic introductory book, for the novice with high goals Review: As a beginner I found this book VERY helpful. It is excellently written in a down-to-earth manner, with tips and hints for the greenest of dog/handler teams. It covers all of the basics such as what your dog should know BEFORE you train agility, how to train obstacles, basic right/left-hand turns, and even goes on into obstacle "proofing" and a few more intermediate level topics. As always, Jane Simmons-Moake made sure that you can't fail by putting in tips on "what to do if your dog..." and a very helpful obstacle-building section which is especially nice for those who have high goals. It is an essential book for any agility lover, especially those looking for an introduction to the most fun thing you can do with your canine pal!
Rating: Summary: Excellent for even beginners to the sport Review: I found this to be a comprehensive yet down to earth guide to the sport of Agility. It breaks down each exercise into steps that anyone can master with their dog. It is written in such a way that even newcomers to the sport can enjoy Agility. For anyone interested in this sport, this book is a must read. Included are plans to make some of the obstacles. Wonderful book.
Rating: Summary: If you are just starting in agility you NEED this book!!! Review: I used this book to start training my first agility dog. We trained on our own for a year and have a wall full of ribbons to show for it. The equipment section is a nice touch. I now have 3 dogs in agility to say it's addicting is an understatement(!) and this book helps to feed the need.
Rating: Summary: Quite good, and also a good reference Review: I wanted to get my dog into agility (an unfortunate accident prevented that). But, this was a good book for both reference and training in the sport. I'm still hoping to get a dog involved in agility. When I do, I'll use this book
Rating: Summary: If you like agility, you have to buy this book! Review: If you want to teach your dog, you will learn it in this book. If you want to build the obstacles, you will learn it in this book. If you want good advice, you will find in this book. It's a excellent and complete book except for the grayscale photos...
Rating: Summary: Perfect for the Agility Lover Review: This book is great! Detailed enough for the advanced, yet easy enough to understand for the beginner. Detailed instructions on building your own jumps, see-saws, weave poles, etc. make the book even better!
Rating: Summary: Agility Training: The Fun Sport For All Dogs : A best buy!! Review: This was a great book. It shows how to pick a good agility dog, right from the start, all aspects of agility trainning as well as obedience training, and shows how to build your own agility obsticles, which came in very handy for me. -Elizabeth Alve-Hedegaar
